@00:10 Notice how there are 5 seconds lacking any feedback between clicking the [Launch] button and the application-window being visible. Note: I do understand that it is due to launching an external process, but please show some feedback, within 100ms! A splash would do just fine.

Actually, the smaller box popped in behind the Java Store window. And REALLY now....this is one thing that all Windows users are familiar with. Clicking a link and not having any visual indication that something is working. EDIT: IT WAS A JOKE FOLKS! Even if it was a poorly constructed one Of course this will be addressed, the store is still in Beta.

Then maybe launch the splash from within the AppStore process, by creating a window and calling toFront(). No way the OS can interfere with that.

Is this the general attitude within sun?

Eh? If I click a link outside of a browser (say, from an email client) then the windows cursor will change to indicate progress. If I click a link within a browser then the there'll be a progress bar or icon within the browser itself. Personally I'd expect the 'launch' button to change state, probably disabled with some kind of 'launching...' animation on it. At the moment it looks like it's broken and you'd probably get users clicking it multiple times.

Actually, when you are installing from the store there actually is an animation to show it is working. It is an interface bit the team is working on. Again, bad joke on my part!

Well, you can't blame us from taking it a bit too seriously, because Webstart has a really bad track record of pop-under certificate dialogs.

They tend to reveil themselves when I'm shutting down Windows. Could you please shut it down for me as part of the launching procedure?

The store (or, rather, warehouse) became somewhat more global: http://java.sun.com/warehouse/overview/locations.jspPeople from these countries are now allowed to submit (for now, only free) apps to the warehouse: Australia Brazil China India Russia Sweden United Kingdom Dmitri

Yeah, our tax/income tax system is sooooo complicated! Maybe that's why Canada isn't allowed for now.

Hmmm, sorry? English is not my first language, and I don't really know the american culture. Ummm.... "The Kids in the Hall"? The GREATEST comedy troupe to ever come out of Canada? If you are from Canada, it is your civic duty to go back and review their work!

oops! I don't have a lot of english canadian culture. I'm from Quebec (which is part of Canada for others reading this) and the first language is french, therefore the english culture is very different from the french one, or Quebec one I should say because even France and Quebec has a fundamental different culture.

Sun contacted me about SingSong and I tried putting an app in the store. They even provided people I could contact with problems. It took many iterations and bug reports to finally get it going. The submission site is terrible. You should be able to just point it at a working JNLP and be done.

Two questions.
1) How do I uninstall something I installed from the Java Store?
2) How do I develop for the Java Store? I want in.

Thanks for the feedback and we are looking to add support for JNLP ingestion as you are correct that will simplify the submission process for existing apps that use JNLP.
