Finally got around to writing a proper 2D batcher, I can render 64,000 sprites at ~135fps on my macbook pro. Now to refactor text rendering so I can move on to redoing my particles!

3 Days Trying write java VST RPC) (but failed)
RPC for external connect and send Sound Data and midi events back and front -
Why i what this?)

I Don't know...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lKR-AKLM3HQ

find java lib jVSTwRapper
she process Sound Data
but for midi out no function - to use Send Midi data XD
(better say shi have it, but i can't make it work and because
she  in last Dev class of Lib - i think its only proto
i may be wrong)

don't want messing with c++ to compile VST and read tons of manuals.
(i try some but so many code need to write Sad and c++ omg - its personal...)

i take virtual midi driver
http://www.midiox.com/index.htm?http://www.midiox.com/myoke.htm

and send data ther - Why i need that?)
Because VST have better sounds (for my midi piano trainer)
and i fears VST HOST libs ^^
hm need try some – later
(because 3 days spend...)

So I make Send Data to Midi Bridge (with custom driver)
And Receive it in Fl studio – where I can set good sounding VST – not midi Synt ^^
Quote
Why i doing all this?)
I Don't know...  Wink

p.s have some problems with Preview Post in Firefox 41.0.2 (Fetching preview... "frozen")

What about JACK and JNAJack* instead?

* I'm the original author of JNAJack.  I didn't however write the MIDI support (mostly by Salvatore Isaja).  There is also an example of usage.

@Icecore  I wish you the best in figuring out how to do this. Have you seen these links? http://www.java-gaming.org/topics/what-i-did-today/33622/msg/346531/view.html#msg346531

If you get nsigma's suggestion working as an alternative, that would be great to hear about as well. I've been working on other priorities, but am hoping to eventually work out some sort of VST or functional equivalent.

Last couple of days, built a GUI for a Shepard Tone builder. It is able to churn out all the needed frequencies and corresponding volumes. Now, to hook it up to a synth! I'm going to...but wait! This thread is for "what I did" not "what I am going to do".

Hm is she can create virtual Midi device?
For using external software.

*For midi support I use base java Sad
VST - RPC
- i think making some Client-Host Api for external control of 3d party programs using VST.
(something like process attach but for Sound + by RPC you can send it by network)
Like receive from VST HOST sound data and send it back, send events etc..

UP:
I wish you the best in figuring out how to do this.
I so lame in Music - so even if i make VST with button - i don't know how to use them ))

This thread is for "what I did" not "what I am going to do".
Sry Sad
what I did - Short:
i connect Java with VST Host using Midi events and virual midi driver ^^

Changing the depth reconstruction to using a frustum corner and a linear depth buffer.
Also by eliminating 2 texture fetches in the blur pass.

You have this.
1
2
3
vec3 unproject( vec2 tc, float depth ) {
        return vec3( (tc * 2.0 - 1.0) * frustumCorner, -1) * depth;
}

You can precalculate 2.0* frustumCorner and optimize it to this.

1
2
3
vec3 unproject( vec2 tc, float depth ) {
        return vec3(tc * frustumCorner2 - frustumCorner, -1) * depth;
}

Started porting SimplyCpp from .Net C# to wxWidgets C++ so I could make it run natively on Mac OS. Also, my lecturer said it would be nice to use C++ to write a C++ editor. So I started laying out the interface in wxAUI.

The good thing is, the program remembers the locations and sizes of the panes, and the user can move them where ever he likes. Will implement tabbed multi document editing now.

wxWidgets already wrap Scintilla editor into a wxScintilla project and provides wxStyledTextCtrl which wraps scintialla component into a wxWidgets widget. The good news for me, it also has a built in C++ lexer.

if you're interested the texture is here. compared to UE or BF 4 this is much more uniform. works nice with 2D and 3D.

Today (or rather, this morning), I wrote an ASCII art generator. It takes any image, and outputs an ASCII copy of it. You choose the desired width (although it will choose the closest width that the math work for).
Here's a picture of the results vs the original (output width 200)

As long as the editor has enough room (and doesn't have line-wrapping), you can have it create really complex outputs.

Here's a link to the program package (https://www.dropbox.com/s/ngr5szsn174d4nq/ASCIIGenerator.rar?dl=0)

More simplifications.

You have this.
1
2
3
 // find horizon angle
float x = diff.z / length(diff.xy);
float elevationAngle = x * inversesqrt(x*x + 1); // ORIGINAL, SLOWER --> atan(diff.z / length(diff.xy));

But you can reduce this to just this.
1
float elevationAngle = diff.z / length(diff.xyz); // And luckily you have already calculated diffLength so just reuse that.

Wolfram alpha suggested this altenate form but it said that "Assumming x,y,z are positive" but I don't see any reason for that restriction. At least we know that diff is always non zero so I think that should be enough.

A fully sociopathic person wouldn't feel anything about it...other than perhaps to find it funny.  We're all nuts...we just need to self-aware of our faults.
