I am no longer in control of my life. Someone made a deep neural network image upscaler trained for anime/manga art. It is really damn amazing at giving good quality upscales. Some images actually look like they were drawn at that resolution. Here's an example of what it can do (original image to the left, upscaled to the right): http://i.imgur.com/S6pIyyC.png Feel free to send me anime images and I'll upscale them to 3840x2160 for you. =P

On a more serious note, I've been working on writing some new model converters. I'm considering releasing a small open source project that can convert skeleton animated 3D models to the internal format we use for NNgine (formerly Insomnia >_>).

That is pretty amazing. It looks like it also de-noises the images pretty well, and gives nice gradients throughout objects but keeps the outlines sharp.
I would send some images, but alas, I have none.

Yeah, it also does denoising, although that can be disabled. It handles JPEG artifact noise almost perfectly, although some slight color variations remain which can be seen around the birds in that comparison picture.

EDIT: Here are some more examples. SFW, but regardless your colleagues may question your productivity if you're staring at anime girls instead of working.

Well, shit, Imgur ruined the quality by JPEG compressing my 8MB PNGs. -_-'

By far my biggest pet peeve in games. When my player doesn't have a shadow it definitely takes away from the immersion.

What I did last day and the night before that day:

Stayed awake the whole night to give consolation and watch over my suffering dog. In the morning we went to the vet to put her out of her misery. I stayed with her until the end, looking in her eyes.
The rest of that day I spend digging a grave in the garden where we ultimately buried her with her first (and favorite) plushie. Also held a simple funeral ceremony with just my family.
She is now in dog's heaven playing on the big green meadow together with her parents and her siblings. I will meet her there in the afterlife.

Rest in Peace Felica, you will be always in my heart.

Now I'm tired, sad and everything is hurting... have to take a nap now.

I expanded my knowledge in electronics a LOT (I finally understand transistors. Yay!). And my girlfriend broke up with me due to my mistakes, so I was (and still am) quite depressed. It may seem like seeking for attention, so I'm not going to expand on that. But I want to say; @Opiop, I know how you feel. My pain may not be as severe as yours, but I had a "little" glimpse of it, even though I'm probably much younger than you (I say "probably" because I don't know your age, but I highly doubt you're a teen like me).

How am I? Tough question, since emotions are confusing as heck Tongue

@MrPizzaCake

My break up was extremely taxing because I'm already a very emotional person, I absolutely hate being alone because of situations I was in when I was growing up, and because her and I had an intense relationship for 2 years. I have no doubt in my mind we both actually loved each other (no, not like "teenage" love), but one thing I've forced myself to realize over these last two weeks is that some things are not final, and some things aren't meant to be. Who knows, maybe she'll come back into my life someday. We did have an amazing friendship that I hope will survive the situation we are in right now. On the flip side, we might have served our purpose in each other's lives; I helped her re-discover happiness and she gave me the peace I finally needed after I managed to leave my abusive home. Maybe that's all the universe had in store for us, who really knows?

I won't comment on your "pain" because I don't know your relationship, or where you are in your life. But I will tell you that these things happen, and it's better to pick yourself up after you give yourself a chance to mourn, and better yourself. Believe me, these last few weeks have been hell for me. I go from hating what she did to me, to flat-out crying and wanting her back, to ignoring the fact that she even exists. That was my time to mourn the loss of my best friend, and now I have to continue on with my life and understand what went wrong/right in our time together. I cherish our beautiful memories, and I study the dark parts of our relationship so that I know what I can do to improve myself so these things don't happen again.

I still miss her, and you will most likely miss your girlfriend. I can promise you that your life will go on though, and you will find someone who loves you for exactly who you are. Life is an amazing thing, go out and experience everything you possibly can and figure out exactly who you are. It's cheesy and cliche, but you have to love yourself before you can fully love anyone else. That's one mistake that brought down my last relationship, and I will be sure to figure out how to appreciate who I am so I can avoid that same mistake.

Well, that was a rant Tongue Sorry for these non-programming related posts, I just find it really nice to write these things out and hope that other people read them. It makes me feel better and I really hope someone else gets some use out of them.

Working on a Yu-Gi-Oh game:

I've been toying with a trading card style mechanic for Vangard, for magical crafting and certain kinds of magical conflict. Obviously I am looking at Magic: The Gathering for inspiration, but I want to get more depth to the game from traditional card games like bridge.

that give me some interesting filing like look at situation from other side
when i write it - that brings new solution ^^

I talked for an hour with my programming teacher with my best friend after school. He's a really great guy!

He has over 12 years of Java experience, then we argued over strong- (Java) vs. weak- (Swift) typing.

We won.

It takes samples from a number of steam users about whether they have the game or not, and calculates the most probable absolute amount of owners. It therefore gets way more precise the more people actually own the game and the wider it is known.
For RFLEX you can pretty much ignore anything it says for now. The site itself even tells you that new titles are mostly inaccurate.
It's audience is still to small and too centric.

That looks like a nice game. Tell him to change the trailer ASAP, though, while the starting-hype still hasn't worn off. It's going to get buried if the trailer doesn't get to the point within a few seconds.
