Java games rock!

We're defining the last steps of our businness plan to begin the manufacturing our first "A" grade game.

The project will be heavily AI based (we have some well known AI researcher in the team) one and of course made 100% Java + OpenGL.

The team is almost formed, we need a strong person to take the role of permanent Senior Programmer and some other skilled guys to take the role of Programmers (various levels).

The project will be based in Italy, Rome.
Transferring to Italy is a primary requirement.

The aspirant must speak fluent English (if not english) or Italian. Not speaking Italian will not be a penalizing trait for foreign people.

Send your resume directly to me at d3ltr33@virgilio.it and make your enquiries in the thread, thanks.

PS: the software house will not be zerosoft, but another one!

Apart from speaking English and/or Italian and java Wink, what's the job-spec? You seem to have forgotten this vital ingredient...

You need to like Pizza and Spagetti. :-)
Which isn't a problem for most, more of a pleasure.

LOL you seem to have forgotten I'm italian, what do you intend for "job-spec"? If I got it correctly you are asking about wanted capabilities:

Senior programmer:
UML knowledge (you have to be my right arm!).
Basic Knowledge of 3D (JOGL and Xith3D appreciated).
At least 3 years of industrial experience in Java.
AI coding experience appreciated.

Programmers:
Previous experience with Java for at least a year.
Capability to code on UML specifications.
Mainly for tool/support programming.

I want to add that the project will start on late 2004 or early 2005 (our investors have to take their time to open the purses). The extimated duration is around 2-3 years (depending on founding, mainly).
If all goes well on the first project the software house will continue to work on other titles, so the working timeframe will not be limited to the current project but will extend undefinitely (till we can make money, I guess) for core members.

What we want at the moment are people that think they can handle the task, nothing definitive, when economic terms of the project will be clearer, you'll receive a "real" work offer with salary informations and everything else.
They want the core staff candidates with their portfolios to evaluate the economic effort to allocate on the project, so we need in advance people that can offer themselves if (and when) the project starts.

Sounds odd, I know, but It's the Italian way of business, I suppose (I worked almost always out of Italy, so don't ask me why  Tongue).

Seems to me that setting up to allow telecomute might stretch the first funding phases money enough to actually get the demo stage of the game..

It's difficult to find people that work realiably in remote for the first high budget project of a SH, risks involved for scammers or not just too serious remote workers are too high at this stage.

We need to make good impression and sport an high productivity.
