  • How the heck is a user supposed to know there *is* a logfile, unless they carefully read everyone else's problems in this thread

I've been very careful to give full descriptions in the first and several posts, and I (stupidly?) assumed that people might actually read the first one.

  • Where the heck is it, especially with webstart?

See the first post. Its USER_HOME\.vscript\log.html

  • webstart actually has it's own logfile, but you have to turn it on *globally* so you keep it off all the time until you need it, then turn it on for one run

Indeed the webstart log isn't very handy, and its only console output anyway. Unless theres actually an exception/stack trace in there I don't care about the contents, its mainly just a development thing.

  • ...and, on the specific occasion above, I was only at the machine for 15 minutes, and didn't have a net connection until I'd left the machine Smiley

Fair enough.

The sad reality is that if you want *everyone* to send you the logfile, *especially* with a JWS game, you have to popup a message which says "if it breaks, send file: .... to me along with a description of the problem".

Hmm, I did think about adding a pop-up dialog, but I thought that was a bit too intrusive. But I think I'll add it to the next version anyway. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I know; it's largely our own fault Smiley. It's not helped by the way that forums software encourages you to think, though - especially since YABB won't take you to "the first message I haven't yet read", and so you get used to just skipping direct to the last page Sad.

To anyone who's got "Out Of Memory Error" while running V-Script, that should be fixed now. Smiley

Looks like I uncovered a bug in 1.4.2 VMs, in that ByteBuffers were not being garbage collected quick enough. I've added pooling of the offending buffers now and so it shouldn't happen.

(Anyone else come across this bug? Seems to be fixed in 1.5 at any rate).
