Concerning creating a JGO game or something like that: I've also had bad experiences with these kinds of projects. Either nobody does anything, one person does everything, or everyone does everything. None of them worked out any good. We do need some kind of developer role system, or at least some way to "reserve" the right to implement a certain feature, so that things doesn't crash 'n' burn.
