Apparently about £330 on 17 November here in the UK

Sony Spec (Actually this is an old press release from last year - I'm sure there's better out now)

This one's a bit newer

No mention of java in any of that though.

£330 hmm thats not too bad if it is that price but if its $499 in the US, it'll probably be £499 in the UK.

however the Wii at E3 has sealed it for me, just looks too fun!

There are  two versions in the US, a $499 and a $599.  The $499 has a smaller harddrive and is crippled in a number of ways (for instance no memory stick slot.)

$599 is a lot... but its also a blu-ray player.  Plus, the games are AMAZING looking,. Too look this good on a PC yould need a top of the line PC PLUS a $600 graphcis card.

Viewed that way its really almost a bargin...

True, but that only holds for what a year - maybe 6 months. You're paying the premium to the nice graphics now - which is of course traditional.

i have already $$$ for ps3 , i wish that in Poland will not be too much high, becouse due sony policy in my country sony playstation after premier has about 30% higher price than in other countries like in German or USA, now we are in EU so maybe they will not make such things, i think that ps3 is worth of it price, for 600$ you get blue-ray  high end graphic card etc if you wish make such computer with similiar capabilitys even in the end of 2006 i think that it could have benn spend 1200$ or more...

I'd believe that the machines are a bargain, the console manufacturers always offer at or below cost hardware and subsidise them with profits from the games which have zero marginal cost.

So how much will the games of each cost?

And I just heard that the PS3 is going for 1000 Australian dollars (US$770) and will be out here in Christmas '06.

That really does seem expensive even for a computer.  Dell gives you a box and a screen for that price...

no joke there, I'm a Dell employee and I'm fortunate enough to have dealt with most XPS systems.. those are actually serious gaming machines! (for both playing and developing)
