It's actually pretty easy to please me: Make it optional! Or offer a theme that doesn't show it. I haven't really visited these sections since this change, because it's a real pain to look at IMHO...

I gotta chime in on this one. I also feel that while it is good to showcase the games, it pretty much changes what should otherwise be designed for best forum experience.
I definitely think both should be there. It would be really nice if it was easy to change on the fly too (on the same page), but otherwise it's still an improvement :-)
