I especially like this line:

Many of those who tried the game, which has been dubbed 'Minecrack' for its addictive quality, obviously liked it so much that they purchased it as soon as the servers came back online on Wednesday.

It's all I can do to set my jealousy aside. Wink I think it is absolutely fantastic what he is accomplishing. It's a huge inspiration for me. My criteria for success is such a small fraction of what Markus shows is possible. I'm going to start a new routine: wake up, check Minecraft sales, punch myself in the face a couple times, and CODE. No OSS, no forums, no Super Street Fighter IV, no masturbation. I have a few weeks now with minimal "real" work distractions, I plan to get something released!

I think everyone on these forums is at least a little jealous. Marcus is a really great coder though.

The best thing about it is that Markus is doing this with java, so we all benefit from it cause people will see that you can make games better than flash.

And more to the point, nobody (users) should care if its flash/java or even html5/js.  It should just (more or less) work.

Marcus has done something great, Minecraft is a success (and I like his other games too) but I'm neither jealous nor envious because we have different objectives.

Giving Java a second chance after ludumdare fiasco

I love that this has happened to Markus, no one deserves success more than him.  He's always been very open and supportive.  Some one made an iPhone port of Miners4k and sold it via the app store, with Markus blessing.  And we all know he's a brilliant developer, I still think that hexagon logic gate thingy was the most brilliant thing ever.

One of my favorite things has been to check the Minecraft stats page and watch the number of purchases climb ever higher.  Minecraft is hugely successfully.  All the gamers at my day job are playing it, and can't believe they're loving a 'pc game' (they're console gamers mostly).

Plus this is the first HUGE Java game, we all have Markus to thank for that.

Go Markus!  Woohoo!!
