Just finished working on my first one year game project K.E.V. Its funny how you loose track of time. I set my deadline to be 6 months ago  Grin

features:
-basic shooting/jumping
-variety of enemy's and mini bosses.
-Lots of interaction with other vegetables.
-Collecting carrots to spend on weapons/other goodies at shop.
-Basic platforming action.
-Decent sound effects/music.

Features I wish I'd added:(may do in future):
-High scores
-saving game files
-An applet version (* now done *)
-More music for different areas.
-Difficulty options.
-More challenging platforming puzzles.

*update 26/02/14: now an applet version, very buggy. Just don't refresh the page or you will lose background music  Huh. Works ok in chrome on windows.

It should be roughly 30 minutes worth of game play, depending on if you interact with everything or not.

Lemme know what you guys think, was fun to make.

jonny.

this is fun. the character interactions keep it fresh. i didnt get to the end yet because the evil potato killed me 3 times and that was enough of being stuck in there.. it would possibly be better to not be trapped in there so i could go back and try to get better armor.

the only other minor issue i had was with the shop, it would be better to push esc or something instead of using the mouse to click x, cos the mouse isnt used anywhere else, and perhaps a display of how much money you have when browsing the shop items would be nice too.

oh and when i was talking to someone, a mashed potato was walking around and hitting me while i was unable to move due to the text box.

Thanks for feedback  Grin. I never thought about not having enough stuff at end boss. As for the shop, you can hit backspace to exit. probably should have said that somewhere  persecutioncomplex.

I just cant believe this took you two years, no offence intended but i honestly think i could program a game exactly the same in less than a week with all those future ideas implemented.

Looks cool though mate, good job Smiley

I love making games...

Its easy to copy any idea with much less of the original effort.
Creating something from scratch takes time as it goes trough multiple stages.
Anyhow, you should never tell someone 'I can do this better' just for the fun.

Funny images, however i notice multiple strange glitches, you should test your game some more before you say its finished.

Well after consulting a calender it seems I'm about a year off, I started it in June last year, did most of it in about 3-4 month holiday. Then rest when not busy at uni, I should really pay attention to time more  Grin. You have to note this is my first game anyway, so I had to learn about all aspects of game programming as I went along. It's not too hard developing games quickly when you know what your doing  Cool. Thanks for playing it anyway.

man, i still cant kill that evil potato! theres really no way to gain advantage over him as far as i can see, all you can do is keep running away from him and shoot over your shoulder when ever you can.

but i think youve got quite a good game here, youve put a lot of detail in it. how much effort would it be, now that youve got it to this point, to take this as a base and polish and expand it into something bigger with more to explore? even though its a simple game, it has details and side quests that dont matter much to the main track of the game, but build up a story which is compelling to continue exploring.

Very ambitious for a first game, but I really enjoyed the way it played out. I'm a bit of a completionist, so I usually like to explore after I've actually completed the game to try to get all the items and find all the secrets... like that missing bank key Tongue. (But I couldn't start a new game after winning Sad... probably have to delete the save file. )

However, the world was very expansive and if you take time to listen to all the talk you've written quite a bit of content for it. The controls were a little bit rough at times, but all-in-all it kept me compelled enough to go all the way to the end of it. I do hope that you get the chance to implement all the features you want when you make a future game.

Nice job on this one. It hits the itch that I had when the objectives were simple, and the game had a very direct focus. It was refreshing Tongue. Anyway, hope to see more games from you in the future. Congratulations on finishing this game Cheesy...

Thanks Grin. I might do a horror game next, they seem very satisfying to make. Better get back to a learning streak though first  Cool. Maybe look into those extra features Shocked.

Really fun game. The dialogue was pretty funny. Couldn't find that bank key though. The evil potato boss fight was really hard, but it was totally worth it. Just, thanks for making the game.
