I'll be there. If we're lucky, maybe Space Ghost et al will be organising some event?

If not, I guess everyone here who goes to JavaOne will be at the 'Desktop Games' BOF:
 http://servlet.java.sun.com/javaone/sf2003/conf/bofs/display-1404.en.jsp

Those of you into mobile games, come and say Hi at my ''Multi-Player MIDP Game Design' BOF:

I'll be at JavaOne.  Will try and make the Desktop Games session if it doesn't interfere with other sessions (i.e. sessions for my job which is sending me there Smiley )

Am I stupid (no comments please)? You mean www.javaone.org?

Cannot find anything about a game summit there.

I had to use google to find it... damn I hate to browse Sun's pages. They should really consider some usablitly tweaking.

2-3 years ago I wanted to d/l the jdk... and it took me 30 mins until I found it :>

For those of us stuck on the other side of the rock, will someone post all the exciting news here?  I noticed a lot of hype surrounding some "big news" at JavaOne, and I'm hoping I don't have to wait too long after the fact to find out what's going on.

Uh ... I hope so, from their website:

"Key3Media is well on its way toward the successful reorganization of the Company. The previously scheduled confirmation hearing is expected to take place as planned on June 4th, and the Company remains on track to emerge from Chapter 11 in June 2003. Notably, a competitor's attempts to delay the Court proceedings were denied by both the Bankruptcy Court and the Court of Appeals for the District of Wilmington, Delaware. Key3Media's plan continues to have the support of unsecured creditors and the holders of the Company's senior secured bank debt."

Space Ghost,

Seriously though, something like this isn't yet posted a week before the event?  How important is it?

Can you give some more details about what will be taking place during this "summit"?

Regards,

Bill

They updated the site, but still not mentioning the summit.

Because SpaceGhost says so.  So THERE!  Shocked

Oh, ab because I am looking right now at the agenda for JavaOne and I know what is going on in terms of promotion.  All I can say, faithful forum dwellers, is that games and Java will have a prominant place this year at JavaOne and you will hear (and see) things that will make you smile and think happy thoughts.

Cheers and beers!

well, it seems difficult to believe that it will really draw the kind of attention these hints imply it deserves if there's no way for anyone to build it into their itenerary

Would it be possible for someone (Chris? Jeff?) to post on the board some of the highlights that happen at JavaOne?

I know many people, myself included, who won't be attending, but are quite curious as to the actual happenings.  Lectures usually have the PowerPoints posted somewhere, but I'm also thinking it might be nice to have overall perceptions, events that don't have slides, etc.

The JavaOne 'Video Game Summit' information is now on the JavaOne site, see: http://javaone.key3media.com/sf2003/index.php?d=conference&s=game_summit
Much interesting stuff, and many names familiar from these discussion boards.
