My game is already uploaded on Gamejolt.com to hopefully get some feedback on how to improve it and what not. This is my first game and it's 6 days in development. I would really love some feedback on whether this is a great accomplishment for a newbie or not, because I really don't feel like I've learned anything and I'm constantly running into problems on how to control my entities.

Link to the game: http://gamejolt.com/games/shooter/minigun-massacre/37170/  (Press Quickplay or download the game from there).

The game is created with slick2D with Java.

There is something really wrong with your game. I downloaded it, double clicked the .exe file, nothing happened. I thought it was a glitch or something. Then, after 10-15 minutes, a windows confirmation dialog pops up asking if I want to run your program.

That is really odd, it's working perfectly fine for me and a bunch of my friends.

Hi

It's probably caused by your virus scanner, it has nothing to do with the game itself.

There is only an executable for Microsoft Windows Sad What is the interest of using Java if you only support a single OS?

Java was restricting me from running any applets on any site and so to be on the safe side I used a .exe file so I could see if it worked or not.

Heh not bad.

Runs fine for me but here is some things you can do to jazz it up.

  • Randomize the bullet deviation slightly so it has a small vertical spray effect (this also makes it easier to look at)
  • Slow spawn rate, give them health
  • Give your bullets knock back
  • Make some run faster than others, or slower whatever

Maybe you could upload the JAR somewhere, it would be better than nothing. I don't blame you.

Thank you very much for these tips! I already added health, knock-back, and some blood particles I made myself with rectangles Cheesy, All thats left is for me to spawn the zombies in a more horde style.
