I sold my old Powerbook 667 and now I'm waiting for my Powerbook 1.25 to arrive and its driving me nuts. I don't think I'll actually get it until Thursday or Friday. I can't stand it Smiley

I just installed Win XP and Linux on a new PC...  they just dont' compare do they?

I was just looking at the specs on the new 15" powerbooks... nice.  As always, my powerbook is less than a year old and the new faster model with more built-in features is available and it's significantly cheaper... gotta love the computer market...

Oh yeah?  Well I just purchased a VIC-20 (programmed my first game on that system) off of eBay for $15 and spent 5 hours playing around with it this weekend.  Quite humbling when my 6 year old said "You can't get to the internet on that?  It must have been SOOOoooo boring!"

Looking back fondly with rose tinted lenses....

Hehe, I still enjoy hacking away on my C64 from time to time. Back when just getting stuff on the screen and animating was a pain in the ass Smiley

That reminds me of the days when my brother and I would stay up late typing in the code for a cheap game from the back of Byte magazine, only to lose it when we shut it off since we didn't own a drive for our C64. Amazing how much fun it was to type in code for 3 hours play the game for 5 minutes decided it sucked, turn off the computer and start over with another issue.

My brother and I did the same exact thing.  No tape drive for 6 months...LOTS OF TYPING.....but lots of fun as well Smiley

C64 - ah those were the days.  Remember when you could buy a book (Mapping the 64) that told you precisely what every bit in the machine did and that was basically all there was to know?
Then people hacked like made to do clever things like turning off the top & bottom screen border by flipping the bit the masked incoming smooth-scrolling characters with an interrupt triggered on a particular scanline?  Then you could see the sprites that you hid behind there...
Or just poking around to flip it into graphics mode and "watching" the code run.

Now we write emulators in Java to get back to those days:)

I got a C64 emulator looking for that flashback high - all I got was the blue screen headache I had forgotten all about; I do have a bunch of old floppies;  GEOS anyone?  (I don't think the disk are any good though)  I even had Simons Basic buts its gone Sad
