Putte is a prisoner of the terrible fruit troll Glufs, and he is forced to feed him the fruits he wants.

It is a puzzle game and the idea is a bit like the classic game Sokoban. You give Glufs the fruits he wants by moving them to him. What kind of fruits he wants is shown in the top bar.

The first levels are very easy but they soon become more difficult. There are 13 levels in total, and you can choose which levels you want to play at the start menu, or just hit enter to play them in order.

Feedback is welcomed!

Cute game, as it's quite simple I miss something to keep me motivated though, like a step count/hiscore list per level.

It's lovely! I feel like it's missing a soundFX when he's eating fruit though Tongue

I had a soundfx "nam-nam" when he ate the fruits.

Might be true. I have been thinking of adding another element/sprite to the game, but not sure what yet.

Installation: +1 - installs and runs correctly
Stability: +1 - the game didn't crash
Presentation: +1 - really nice presentation and slickly presented
Graphics: +1 - very nice graphics.
Sound: +0 - although some sounds could do with more.
Style: +1 - overall style is "good" using a tried and tested gameplay mech
Innovation: +0 - could do with some more originality or some twist of its own (does have a bit of this with apple eating thing), mostly just the standard sokoban formula atm
Fun Factor: +1 - OK to play underlying sokoban formula is solid as always.
Completeness: +0 - its complete enough to play, however needs a bit more to stand out from the crowd (gamplay wise, probably already there graphically).
Freebie: +1 point if you don't whine and you demand nothing of the mods (simply saying "can you rate my game please" is fine)

Simple, challenging, really nice graphics and overall polished.

7/10

Thanks! Hmm well I have tried to make the first levels not too difficult.

Is anyone else stuck on a level? And which levels did you find the hardest?

Hello FruitMaze,

Love this kind of game and you executed it nicely!

Few suggestions:

- Start very simple with just one piece of fruit that you have
to push to the mouth. Maybe even with an arrow in the background
so as to know where the fruit has to go. Just for the starting level(s)
- Undo button (Important one, maybe penalty point for using it?)
- Hi-score list with number of steps taken to complete level
- The text between the levels doesn't change except for the last.
You almost have a story going on, maybe you should vary a little?
- I see potential of growing this into a larger game and maybe even
ask a little money for it! This could be the free-version  Cheesy
Mickelukas had a good suggestion for extra elements. You can
even introduce a female which you have to feed. Or even harder
an animal that eats certain fruit if it can get to it ... etc..

Good job so far!

Best regards from

M.E.

Thanks for the good advices M.E.! To introduce a female as well to feed is an interesting idea... It might give more depth in the game.

A really nice, well-presented game!

A few things niggled me about the presentation though.
- The sound effects are a bit too sparse at the moment - footsteps and a sound when pushing fruit would help.
- The sound effect when the troll eats feels too quick compared to the animation of the troll's mouth.
- Some of the pauses felt too long.  In particular the screen goes black for a long time between levels.
- Personally I'd stop the walking animation when the player can't move forward.

Putting a "Restart Level" button in the game (rather than relying on a key press) would make it more obvious that this is a game in which the player is expected to get stuck from time to time.  The same goes for an "Undo" (or "Rewind"?) button if you add that feature.

I got to Level 11 before getting stuck.  I desparately, desparately wanted to blow up some of the bits of fruit with a shotgun at that stage.  (Consider that a gameplay suggestion if you like!)

Hey Fruitmaze, nice game . I'm right now stuck at level 9 . Sometimes I wish the character would move a little faster, specially when I have to do roundtrips to push some fruits .

Found a bug, however.

To reproduce:

1)Choose a level

2) In the screen where show the text
"Putte is a prisioner ..."
press Enter, then Esc

It will crash with the following stack trace :
1
2
3
4
Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-2" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: -1
   at levels.Levels.loadLevel(Levels.java:85)

Great style on this game, I really like the troll. It's also pretty fun, although I suck at this sort of game. Smiley

Works now, maybe it was a glitch in the matrix.
