Droid Assault's out! (Quietly does it, just a few forum spams first before the mailing list etc)

You can grab the demo from this page for your respective OS.

Here's a video and screenie or 2 if you've not seen any yet:
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/8D2dfPGN2Rc" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/v/8D2dfPGN2Rc</a>

Yes, it's only $9.95 too.

with the low value of the dollar, wouldn't it have been better to use €? - 10$ is damn cheap, really.

but, but... you promised! Cry

Fix it, and it's a guaranteed sale from me. (I'll probably buy anyway, but I'll be mildly annoyed every time I play. Can you live with that on your conscience?)

Oh, and sound works fine on linux now.

Well, European customers pay €7.95 (because they have to pay VAT); and UK customers £5.95.

Congrats!

Very good work, both code and art. Be proud!

I hope it sells at least as well as your previous games.

Click on "No Thanks" when it asks you to buy.

Of course... and then?

When asked to buy (for the seconds time) I click "later".
Then I click "play" twice. I end up at a third "Buy droid assault" page. '
I click "later" and come to your website.
If i instead click "Bring em on" I come to your website.

You really wanna sell this, huh? Wink

Ah, looks like your demo has somehow expired already. Might be something do to with the alpha testing.

What OS are you running?

You'll have to monkey in the registry:

HKCU\Software\Javasoft\Prefs\net\puppygames\applet

Delete the Droid Assault key under there.

As everyone before me already said, brilliant game Smiley

I have a question though, why does it store two files of 10-15 mb in the application data folder? (~/Library/Application Support/Droid Assault 1.0 on my Mac)

Them's is decoded OGGs, for faster startup second time round. All the sound effects are packed together as raw PCM data into one big long sound, then that sound is OGGed to compress it. As it's so big it takes a while to decompress on older hardware so I cache the decompressed version. Probably won't need to do this for much longer.

Haha, I just bought this game. I still remember fondly the classic Paradroid, good to see such a nice remake!  Grin
