Wow, you're a real enthusiast Smiley I like it when people are enthusiastic and show some humor in their posts. I do understand your idea, but try to be a little less recursive and a bit more specific. Is there a certain type of game you want to create? Do you already have an idea? What are your own experiences, what kind of people do you need to fill in roles you can't fullfill yourself?

Just some basics I want to give to you (just for free! Cheesy)

There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who can extrapolate from incomplete data,

I have a tip for your 3rd try of making a team after this one fails...

1. Think of a interesting concept to create.
2. Create a prototype thats interesting enough to engage people with your idea.
3. Tell people how its made and ask if someone is interested to join you in this concept.
4. If more then 2 people are interested, then start with your demands Smiley

That won't work, I have a project that is already under way, with a plan in a general direction and even then people are hesitant. I heard that was my attitude though...

It seems like you are focusing more on your audience than an actual game. Make a game first and then people will want to know more about your game.

. Graphics artist 1, we don't really need more then 1 but if that guy has friend that want to help sure...!

So you're asking for people with more experience than you and yet you are the team leader?

I am confused by about half of this post. You seem to like to go off on tangents instead of focusing on recruiting people for a team. Also, you need to have some sort of prototype to get people interested in this. I would suggest working on a game for a while and then come back and try to get people to join your team.

And generally speaking someone with 4 years experience (for instance) knows more than you do (with 2 years experience if you aren't lying). Its just how it goes. Sure, no one knows it all, and sure the "more experienced" people can learn from the "less experienced" people, but in programming that is rare. Why? Because after you get the concept of programming down then you can learn anything you want.

I really like this forum... we have a whole lot of people who are just excited and really want to join up with other folks. Maybe if all of you people looking for help would combine forces, then you can make a small team. However, it'll probably be a fight to who can lead such a team, and if the goals aren't aligned well... I don't see any game coming out of it. A very good learning experience, but not a game.

People are fickle...

We all have reasons for why we do things, and since our time is limited, we actually spend time on things where we "believe" that time is well spent. In my view, I always think about why someone would want to spend time playing my programs when there are programs more powerful and better than mine. When joining a team, it is really the same thing.

"Why would someone join your team when there are job corporations and huge indie development teams they can join?"

The answer is simple, and it usually is that the team has an "ideal" you believe in, and/or a game you want to work on. Most of the time, people will just volunteer their services if they see the project you are working on is worth their time. People who were on this site that have been slaving away like the developers of PuppyGames, FarSky, and Intergalactic Trash Man (etc.) are just better candidates because you can see that they "know" how to produce games from what they can show.

Anyway, keep that in mind. I would definitely love to see the people who are willing to start their own teams actually combine forces. It'd be interesting as each person obviously would have the tenacity to work. As long as each person is trying to best the other in terms of work ethic, there is a very good chance you'd be able to produce a game.

May I point out that most of us actually have lifes with school, work etc. You can't expect people to work 6-12h a day (although I usually do, but that doesn't mean everyone does. Besides after 6-8h of straight coding your mind won't really coop any longer)

You may clap in your hands if you find someone who is willing to work 1-2h a day.

Let me try to rephrase your thread head, if it was more professional and organized you might have a more positive reaction. If you look at other posts looking to create "teams" the ones with professionally crafted posts get much better results. You need to post more about yourself, not just about what you want.
(If I misrepresent what you want from your potential team, let me know)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments.

Information :
I will be reviewing potential members for the next month.
To apply, message me (tomastero) on skype.
We will be using Saros as our multi coding plug-in.
We will be using "pure java".
We will be posting to youtube weekly.
You will not be paid to be on the team.
We start making a game in a week.

Some requirements :
You must be 16 years or older to apply.
You need not know how to program, but you must have something to contribute to the team.
Must have a working microphone and Skype.
A good team member can communicate well, and respects his teammates.

Ok you just crossed a line there. Sorry some of us cannot devote half of our day to a project we are going to get nothing out of. Some of us (including myself) have real life to take into consideration, and to be quite honest, programming comes last to me. Even though it is my favorite hobby, life (as in relationships with others) is more important than joining a team with someone who isn't mature enough to realize that other people cannot make the same time commitment you can make. I have a job, a band, school, friends and a family who likes to see me, have you ever thought about that? I can guarantee others on this forum also feel the same way.

Thank you for your offer, but I think you just lost a lot more respect (at least you lost a lot of respect from me).

Yeah, lots of people do those kind of hours for themselves, but not for some random person on the internet who can't type out proper sentences and most likely has less experience than them.

Am I the only person that is getting pissed off with this bollocks?

You are calling other people lazy for having a life yet your probably one of the most immature people on here and your obnoxious.
Here is an idea, see when you get home from school...go back out. If you spend everyday of your life coding 8 hours a day, you will be hanging from a tree by the time your 40.

well it is but am to lazy to edit more then 10 minutes XD

You said this a while go, I stopped taking anything you say/do/claim seriously.

8 hours a day is pretty standard for most coders who have a real job. Just saying...

Also, I don't understand why everyone is flaming this thread. Clearly most people disagree with the op and his statements but what's said has been said. There's really no further reason to post here. If you don't take him seriously then don't comment. Advice>Flaming please.

Why not standardize on one of the great build tools like Gradle or SBT and let devs use any IDE or no IDE?
