Judging always seems to feature beer and we all know it takes hand eye co-ordination to fly a plane.

In all seriousness...make the **** thing 100% webstart, not 50% webstart! I swear you'll get many more players. We know j3d is a dead and miserable tech, so how many of us want to install the darned thing? Don't give us the choice...just do it behind our backs Wink.

(if the stumbling block is Sun not having a webstart-extension JAR for j3d, then put one together and JGF can host it - I'll then get all the other j3d games using that same JAR, and you'll all benefit from reduced download times).

£10 says that all of the judges had a massive stroke and forgot who to make/judge games. Smiley

I thought our games had a good chance of placing - after all they are fun, polished and great games.  Of course, they are not 3D, so that may be a knock against them.

However, as far as I can tell, they have not yet been installed and played (I can track this because activation requires a quick connection to my server).  Given that they have to announce the winner this week, I am quickly losing hope that they will be judged.  It's a shame, but there isn't much one can do about it.  If Sun does another contest, hopefully they can allocate more time and craft a better submission system.

Should be announced tomorrow as I understand it, course some might think I'm being an optimist now. I'm looking forward to seeing what games got picked, and of course I wish you all the worst of luck (bah, I need a new comp worse than you hehe, I'm about 2 years overdue for an upgrade).

Maybe the link http://games-contest.dev.java.net/ should be made accessible again ... after removing all the uploaded files.

ah, the link from JavaGaming to the contest has been removed at least.

If anybody still wants to lookup the original conditions, I found this:
