Sorry if this is the wrong section. I can't find anything relating to graphics design in JGO to post in Smiley

Here is the logo so far. The gears don't have anti-aliasing, because of the source I got it from. It is for a game engine with an editor. Any ideas?

Add gears some shadows, so it looks more beautiful. At the moment it's just plain. Looks like tractor wheel.

A quick try at (read: crappy) some AA on the gear + a saturation gradient & subtle white highlight under the name:

Really you should change the colors of the gear I think, at least the off-white.

I actually can't use a background, it was just for looks. The logo will be posted on forums, so it needs to be transparent. :hint: :hint:

Try adding some occlusion/drop shadow around the text and wheel. Also, is Embers possessive? If so, it should be "Ember's".

Was I before Chuang Tzu who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being Chuang Tzu?

No, its just a name. Embers isn't a person.

I already tried to add shadows to the text. It was too hard to read the text though.

If it's like the logo, I can toss one together that's a small version of the gear or something..

I meant for the things like file explorer, play button, level editor, *maybe* some example tile maps and such. Its for a game engine, if thats what you would be interested in. (With a cool lighting engine with different mappings too Cheesy)

Probably don't have time to get into all that, I have my own game to develop after all. Cheesy

NP, when I have time it's fun to do a logo here and there, break away from pixel art. Tongue

A logo should be clear and simple, this one has too much clutter (lines, shadows, fonts, colors).

Rayvolution did a really great job with that design. However, per 65K's comment, I tried to imagine how a simple design would look for the Embers Engine logo above.

Yeah, in my opinion, I don't think simple quite works for the Embers Engine design. Ray is on the right track when it comes to his art direction. It totally depends on the website, but there is a poster appeal to Ray's design. Depending on how cluttered the website is, there is a choice to either make the logo pop out using Ray's design. Also, you can have a lot less attention using the above design.

Either way, I suppose you have options now. Pointing
