Hi, it's the third time I received this type of personal message here at JGO: Dear, TheAnalogKid!
There are viruses' activities from your computer! Highly recommend you to scan your computer for malicious and potentially unwanted software. If you do not follow this, I will have to make a complaint to your Internet Service Provider with attached log file (your IP address, etc.). If you want to find a report about your computer's security and solve every problem with it, please click here:
<SNIP - LINK REMOVED Demonpants>
This is an online service that you can use for free spyware removal. Use it to scan your computer to help protect, clean, and keep your computer running at its best. Use the free scan to check for and remove viruses, spyware, and other potentially malicious software and to find vulnerabilities or shortcomings in your Internet security.
Thank you. Yours truly, Cliff Edwards. As you can see, this type of aggressive tone only tells me that I'm a victim spam. The user who sent me this has registered on Feb 14 and has 0 post. Anybody has receive it as well? What can be done to stop it here?

I got it too. There's a "report to moderator" link at the bottom-right of every PM. No use in this case though, as I have already clicked it, prompting Charlesj to act decisively. So long Cliff Edwards!

Already banned this guy, he was under "clifzz" (or something similar) please let me know me if you're still getting this message, and who it's from.
Also, please don't post the link in the forum or their site is just going to get more search hits and people might click on it.

Got one from Davietorr : You have just been sent a personal message by Davietorr on JavaGaming.org. IMPORTANT: Remember, this is just a notification. Please do not reply to this email. Sweet. I don't know how to get their IP unless they've made a forum post. Is there an easy way?

Maybe putting in place some sort of approval process for account creation would help avoiding spam? The issue is that I don't have a good idea for such an efficient process.

I'd say, to send a PM (and even post in a forum?), put in place a process that forces the user to type in the words or numbers that're displayed in an image.

Chris is the only one with access to this stuff and he's a very busy guy. It'll be there whenever it is. But at least now he has a point of reference to see what people would like in terms of spam control.

Last time I checked I didn't need physical access to maintain a server / database? so why would he be able to do it and you cant? Different passwords for different access-levels?

Yet more PM spam today. Can't we at least implement Riven's suggestion? (or some variant on it, like requiring >0 posts before being allowed to send PMs). 'tis terribly annoying.

Again, updating the forums would help remove the security exploits found in each of the 6 or so updates...
