Why is JOGL on TV? It's dead, and it wasn't that good a lib in the first place when compared to LWJGL.

This thread does not concern LWJGL and this library is good for different purposes as JOGL is only an OpenGL/OpenGL-ES(/OpenMAX?) binding. JOGL is not dead, it is used in lots of commercial softwares including both games (Wakfu by Ankama Games) and applications (NASA World Wind, Sculpteo, Playviz, etc...), the nightly builds work, the second version is still in beta, please stop FUD and don't turn this thread into a "JOGL versus LWJGL" debate. I work as an engineer/researcher in computer science and I now know that JOGL is used in a lot of scientific applications, jzy3d by Masa Group (that relies on JOGL) is used as a replacement of JClass, GEF3D JOGL version is still maintained... JOGL is very far from the death, really.

This thread is not about LWJGL.
I started with JOGL a few years ago, thanks to a java.net article, then I discovered LWJGL, which was, as described by CyanPrime, awesome.

Oh this thread is a laugh... Don't worry gouessej, I'm sure there are other JOGL fans out there I haven't worked with any directly, but I use LWJGL underneath one of my projects.

That's not the point. It is not the place to speak about this library, this is a section dedicated to JOGL and the subject is "A JOGL application has been seen on TV".

However that does not mean that we can't speak about other libs in relation to JOGL.

I built their slate & caption generator with the programme rundowns and a bit of video playback. It's still running after all these years! Just recently they asked if I'd upgrade it all to do widescreen output. Cas

No, it is completely off topic. This thread is not about comparing JOGL to any similar library, that is why there are 2 separate sections for the library you evoked and JOGL, it avoids turning any thread about JOGL into a JOGL versus ... debate. Your diversions are useless, nobody can change the past. A JOGL application has been seen on TV, it is neither the first time (Wakfu, NASA World Wind) nor the last time and you cannot do anything against that. Such as LWJGL?
This thread is not about this library.

Laydeees! Calm down, I was only mocking the extremely-easy-to-mock gouessej. Sometimes I forget just how explosive he can be! IMHO there should be but one forum on Java and OpenGL here on JGO, and any and all bindings should be discussed in it, none if this daft JOGL did this LWJGL did that bickering! Java did this and Java did that, I think you'll find. Cas
