Why is there a forum for Java3D, but not for GL4Java? There are many who use GL4Java, so it would be nice to have a forum for them.

See it as 'Java 3D' and post your GL4Java comments there. Maybe it will be the first ....

Or request a new forum, as you have done!
As a heavy user of Java3D, I see the Java3D forum as "Java3D", not "Java 3D".
I'd actually prefer a separate forum for folks who are using GL4Java or OpenGL directly, just as there's a separate forum for LWJGL.

Or rename the LWJGL forum to something like OpenGL/LWJGL/GL4Java.

True, forget I said that I was under the impression that most questions on the LWJGL forum are about openGL anyway, but I just checked but that's not true.

"Version 2.8.2 - Release 0 - 11th December 2001" gl4java is dead, long life to LWJGL Just because the last release was more than a year ago doesn't mean that it is dead. It could mean that it has finished implementing OpenGL features in Java. It's not like they are going to add more features to it.

I didn't think JavaGL implemented any features at all, just gave access to the underlying OpenGL native library?

There's been quite a lot of stuff added to OpenGL since then. Not least it's gone up a whole point release to 1.4. Cas

There are rumors JSR-134 will feature an OpenGL binding, and the post above seems to confirm it. So there's no point fighting for LWJGL or GL4Java...

LWJGL does more than just bind to OpenGL. It uses OpenAL as well as has input APIs. :-)

LWJGL is always going to be a much more dynamic technology as well. We do a release every couple of months. Which is important. And of course we're not bound to AWT, which is critically important for some Cas
