Java games rock!

« Posted 2005-01-26 16:48:23 »

Hi
Here is my java 4k submission.
It's the classic game: occupy the most territory from a rectangular area and avoid the bouncing stuff.
(I read in the other thread that it was called quix. Well whatever.)

http://danieleff.fw.hu/territory4k.jnlp

Although its exactly 4k, I know how to squeeze it down.
My primary goal is to add 2-player support (not network, I hope ill be able to do it8)), than to make it nicer, and in the end maybe add in-game help/description.

Really nice! Smooth, simple and under 4k! Feel alot like the Arcade version that I lost so much cash to!

And feature rich aswell!

Lovely!

very nice game, yes. Same style as mine but I see you managed to make it the original way. I had huge performance problems with my own version of that game.

Would you mind showing me the code? Im very excited bout how you could make this game in only 4k.

nice job.

"Java Games? Incredible! Mr. Incredible, that is!"

This seems to be a really popular game to make for the 4K contest. Here's a similar entry from last year:

http://goldenstudios.or.id/products/games/index.php#4%20K%C2%A0%C2%A0G%20A%20M%20E%20S

The proper name of the game is "Qix" (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qix) and unfortunately had a very short lived career in the arcades. However, its spinoffs made a comeback as a pornographic video game that was carried by many truck stops, thus giving the game long-term popularity.

Hi
Made it so you cannot intersect yourself, you will not die, just stop. (hehe, like the original Tongue )
Its even smaller, and the persistent high-score saver should work now.

And the source should be at http://danieleff.fw.hu/M.java

Maybe next time ill try to be more original Grin

9400 on the easy level is my best.

You could make this harder by having a count-down clock, and you get less points the closer the clock gets to zero.

Hello, really nice game!!! Had me addicted right away. The only problem I had with it was when I reached 10000 points because I could not make the game end. Even if I had my dot right over one of the moving objects the game would not end (and I wouldn't get that Highscore I longed for  Angry). Great game though!!  Grin

btw. I tried to attach a picture but didn't know how to do it.
