actually, most of the work isn't the code as such, but rather the content and the throughput of the engine. So, it could be done using LWJGL

And in jogl, where pressing alt or f10 doesn't hang the entire app. Only in windowed mode, where it is the shortcut to tab to the System menu. You got me worried for a mo.

It's not a bug, it's a library-provided automatic pause control...

Excellent. =) Sarcasm and fun-poking aside, LWJGL really is an impressive piece of code, and it's nice to see the few remaining snags get fixed.

The hardware specs have been out since last year, no? There were full-on product tutorials at the GDC back in Feb/March from IBM et al, so you should be able to find plenty of detail of what the hardware is by now, and analysis.
Basically, it's got lots of fast, powerful, CPU cores, so it was always clear it was going to have a very very high processing throughput. Rather than summarize badly and say something stupid through ignorance or poor memory, I'll leave it to Google to do the talking. Try Ars Technica, IBM, and the other usual suspects...

The hardware specs have been out since last year, no? No. The Cell specs have been circulating for a while, but other stuff like memory, HD, controllers, graphics card etc. was still under wraps.

The guy from Epic who demoed Unreal 2007 said that the PS3 used standard technologies like OpenGL. As I mentioned in another post, if we could get a JVM on there and a cross port of LWJGL we'd be in business!

I seen a face with pores even on my FX5700 without significant delays, that pieces of water on face might be worse problem if the scene would be fully lit. But I see bigger problem with a lack of a nice PD models on net.
Wait a minute. That lighting is pretty strange, and that hairs doesn't look like they'd wave in wind. It also looks like model reusage. Is that explosion a hardware accelerated effect? Or a some reproducible effect that would be possible throught OpenGL without problem. Actually upon further examination, it doesn't throw light to nearby surfaces.
Conclusions too much obcesion with nice look of models, and yes they are looking nicely, but not enough work with 3D engine model.
