Nah, that's just a debugging message. It's not actually failing at that point, just telling you it can't get Nvidia RAM Does it otherwise just Not Work, then? What happens? Cas

1. after playing for approx 5/10 mins, my total time became negative, suspiciously reminiscent of -1 * Integer.MAX_VALUE. When I finally died, the score dsiplayed on my screen was literally: -2147483648:0-48.-8 (assuming I interpreted the full stop symbol correctly) 2. on quitting the game, there was some RMI exception I noticed in the webstart console. I doubt it's anything important (didn't appear until I hit the "maybe later" button) but thought I'd let you know. If it's importatnt, I can try and find the webstart log too. PS all on linux, which finally works .

Ignore the RMI exception, that's just me attempting to get a success/failure log of your game (but there's no RMI server at my end yet). Not sure what's causing the time to go wrong yet... Cas

I was playing for a total of 25 mins, I think (looking at timestamps on logfile). Apart from the RMI, the only message is "Falied to load highscores table".
Whilst I was playing, the last time I remember the clock being OK, it was displaying something like 9 minutes something. Maybe when it hit ten minutes? It was certainly around a minute or two later that I noticed the -2147.. in the HUD.
Oh, and of course it stopped updating once it had gone to min int.

Nah, that's just a debugging message. It's not actually failing at that point, just telling you it can't get Nvidia RAM Does it otherwise just Not Work, then? What happens? It just hangs. But only in full screen mode! After I wrote my post, I tried the Windowed version. It worked fine except for the mouse. Once you move the mouse in a direction, it continues to go in that direction until you move it again. It makes the gameplay extra challenging. :-)

Mouse issue should be fixed now according to Elias. Give it another whirl. Fullscreen definitely won't ever work in 10.2 but I'm pleased that Windowed mode works. Does anyone know the relative numbers of 10.2 vs 10.3 users? Cas

Mouse issue should be fixed now according to Elias. Give it another whirl. It works great now! Good job guys! Fullscreen definitely won't ever work in 10.2 but I'm pleased that Windowed mode works. That's too bad. Still, that's the only Java & OpenGL game I have seen run on my Mac. Everything else requires 10.3. You might try checking to see if the user is running < 10.3. If he is, just force the game into windowed mode. BTW, any chance we could get the window centered? Having it hang in a corner is somewhat ugly. Does anyone know the relative numbers of 10.2 vs 10.3 users? For the most part, everyone has upgraded. It's only a very minor number (like myself) who are too lazy/scared to upgrade. :-)

Briilliant! I'll put the check in for 10.2 in the LWJGL, and get windowed mode to centre by default. Cas

I've been playing Super Elvis for quite sometime now and it's bloomin great! Graphically and sonically excellent, entertaining, compulsive and the effects are marvellous. All the tweeks you've made recently have made it even more playable and I genuinely think you're onto a winner with this one. I know none of the above's really constructive in anyway but I'm figuring that sometimes it's good to hear some encouragement <edit> PS I've noticed you're taking quite a lot of flak over the mouse control; personally I've found it totally intuitive from the start. I like the fact that I can sit back in my comfy chair and control everything with the mouse - please don't do anything silly like using the cursor keys to control the direction of fire! </edit>

The demo configures itself on install with 9, 25, or 36 levels. I'll be checking the purchases to see which one converts best. Thanks for the encouragement Cas

Eh? What are you one about? When I loaded the game up on my PC, I only got the first level. All the other levels were marked "Available in Purchased Version". Then after I finished the first level, I hit the "Buy Now" screen. Unfortunately, it's not yet available for purchase. :-(

Worked great on Mac OS X 10.3 for me.
10.3.6 512 ram 1.0 Ghz G4 iBook
Although I don't think a trackpad is the best thing to use. It was kind of tough but I got past the first level and tried the next 4.
Looked great and sounded great.

Doesn't work any more for me. Java Web Start 1.5.0 Using JRE version 1.5.0 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM Failed to load hiscores table. Starting Super Elvis 1.0 at org.lwjgl.opengl.LinuxDisplay.createContext(Native Method) at org.lwjgl.opengl.Display.create(Display.java:519) at org.lwjgl.opengl.Display.create(Display.java:496) at genesis.Game.init(Game.java:456) at genesis.Game.main(Game.java:568)
Then again I'm not sure LWJGL has worked at all since my upgrade to 1.5. (Linux by the way)

Isn't there an exception message somewhere? Maybe in ~/Super Elvis 1.0/*log or something? What gfx card and OS version?

The webstart demo as well as the exe are having some problems on my machine ( P4HT@3.2Ghz, WinXP, ATI X800XT-PE, Catalyst 4.12b): The mouse's hotspot is totally off in every screen but the level selection. To click the "buy"-icon to the left, i have to move the mouse over the options button and to click on the options button, i have to move it over the hiscore button. To select the first option from the option screen, i have to move the mouse over the exit button... When i'm finishing a level, the "level end special effect" is just a quad showing a part of the screen slightly offset and whoobling around...it's hard to describe but it's for sure not the way it's meant to be. Apart from these problems, it seemed to work fine.

- elias The actual exception: org.lwjgl.LWJGLException: Could not create a direct GLX context Sun Nov 28 08:37:49 NZDT 2004 at org.lwjgl.opengl.LinuxDisplay.createContext(Native Method) Sun Nov 28 08:37:49 NZDT 2004 at org.lwjgl.opengl.Display.create(Display.java:519) Sun Nov 28 08:37:49 NZDT 2004 at org.lwjgl.opengl.Display.create(Display.java:496) Sun Nov 28 08:37:49 NZDT 2004 at genesis.Game.init(Game.java:434) Sun Nov 28 08:37:49 NZDT 2004 at genesis.Game.main(Game.java:568)
It's an Asus laptop, so the gfx card is embedded I think. I'm running gentoo linux.
