Now features Rookie Mode in the demo version - if you sucked at Alien Flux before, you can now complete the demo! As well as numerous little bugfixes.

The FULL VERSION of Alien Flux now features Extreme Mode too for when you complete the game under Normal Mode. Extreme Mode allows you to jump straight in at level 21 at the start of the game. The full version of Alien Flux is still available for the miserly sum of $19.95 (about £12 or ¤17.35) - the price of a pizza and a couple of beers! We guarantee you'll get as much fun as a pizza and two beers or your money back! Yes, that's right, we have a 60 day money back guarantee on Alien Flux. If you don't think you've enjoyed it for any reason whatsoever, we'll refund you - no questions asked!

Download the Alien Flux demo from:

http://www.puppygames.net/downloads/SetupAlienFluxDemo.exe
(Windows native version, 5.5mb)

http://www.puppygames.net/downloads/AlienFlux-demo-1.3.zip
(Java / Linux version, 5.0mb, requires Java 1.4+)

No news on the Mac port yet but I hope something's happening on that front Smiley

Thanks for the announcement.
Optically and acoustically the game looks pretty impressive. The story "Asteroids meets Moorhuhn" also is interesting. Good work, my congrats.
This makes me think that actually it's quite possible to do nice games with Java and OpenGL.

However on a friend's WinXP laptop with a "Mobility Radeon 7500 AGP (LW)" graphics cards the game crashes as soon as you press the "enter" button. Should I drop game's logfile to your website, or here, or ... where? :-)

(In both cases we used the game's pure Java version; the zip file with the big Jar inside.)

Mmm, crashing in the Java version - not good and most unexpected. I'll assume you've got the latest drivers for the card. Would you mind mailing the logs to support@puppygames.net? Ta.

I've downloaded windows native as java link isn't working... during installation Avast antivirus freaks out on .exe file, says it contains a trojan. False positive or someone hacked your site and disabled second link and put trojan in first? I won't run it of course until this is solved.

btw. for windows native is said to be 5.5MB and it's actually 10.7MB, also suspicius.

Click to Play

edit: second link not working:

Spurred on by this burst of necromancy, I dug out my Alien Flux key and tried the linux jnlp link. It downloaded fine, but:

Yeah, too lazy to fix AF webstart. No point until I fix the particle engine to use sprites instead of points.

There was a duff load of antivirus reports a while ago that wrongly identified AF as a trojan, thanks to Molebox. Someone released a trojan inside a Moleboxed app and so everyone's Moleboxed apps were given false positives. Greatly inconvenient.

Warning - while you were typing a new reply has been posted. You may wish to review your post.

Bleargh. Me posts regardless. Tongue

@Kova

Note that the thread was necroed by some dude who behaves like a broken spam bot. This thread is quite old and the size changed since then. The alert is a false positive. Every application wrapped with molebox will trigger it (there was some trojan which used it). It has been a while since you last updated the signatures, huh?
