Okay folks. I've tracked down just about every Java logo I could and what the terms are, so that you can all benefit from NOT getting in trouble with Sun.
This is straight from Sun's Licensing department with whom I have corresponded through email.
The Coffee Cup - Sun use only
The Coffee Cup with "Sun Microsystems" underneath - Sun use only
There is supposedly a "give-away" Java logo but they have not yet released it.
- all these require licensing the source code from Sun for the appropriate edition of Java. This is for vendors who wish to make changes to the source, or to the JVM itself, from what I understand. You then run the CTK, the Compatiblity Testing Kit, to insure that you are still compatible with Java, and this gets you the right to use the three logos above.
Jump To Java (Duke's on this one)
Java-Get It Now!
- all you have to do is click on a web from to agree to the license on how to use this logo. It's for people who want to link to Sun for downloading the JVM
- again, click a button, but you submit information to Sun regarding who you are and what you do. This is the least understood logo for me as I have spent very little time reading its license.
So there. In the future, we can expect a Java logo similar to Sun's that we can use. Anyone with more information on it, please post.http://logos.sun.com/logosite.jsp?Category=third#java
