Java games rock!

Interesting stats here:

http://216.147.18.102/dist/stats.shtml

Of particular note - plain old Microsoft Java 1.1.4 has a 57% share of visits to this guy's site.  Offsetting that somewhat, his site has some odd usage patterns (look at the O.S. stats - only 24% Win XP).

Still, if that number is even broadly accurate, it speaks strongly against targeting an applet against anything above Java 1.1.

Anybody got any thoughts on the issue?  Any other links to similar types of data?

Well, the first two were Windows-XP, since  "Windows-NT 5.1" is the same as XP, just reported different.

It shows how few computers have java installed, I would consider that the ~60% withought java just have jvm installed because it was installed on windows by default or by an installed application.
If the msjvm wouln't have existed, those guys would not have java installed at all :-(

I think its likely very deceptive.

Most IE installs have MSVM instaleld, but its uncelar if they ALSO have
the plug-in installed.  I dotn know how carefully he checks FIRST for the plug-in, or if he does at all :/

That 57% number looks an awful lot like the numerb of IE hist he gets, period, considering how drastically IE usage ahs fallen off thanks to virus issues.

Well, it counts the JVM the applet runs with. I also think this is the right approach - for the applet distributor the jvm counts the applet will finally run on...

Well, it fell drastically by about 5-10%...wooow
Most WIndows users are too stupid, they simply don't get it. Or maybe they just like to setup their system again and again ;-)
