Has anyone any suggestions about setting up e-commerce for purchasing games online. I want to give the user access to a particular jar file if and only if they've payed to get it. Maybe it mail it to them?

Any software suggestions? Or should I hand roll a php/paypal solution?

Cheers,

Kev

Use a regservice like SWREG or Plimus which take care of that stuff for you.

They both seem to be pay up front things. Pay pal *seems* to let me sign up and they take a bit from each sale (unless of course I missed something).

OK, assuming that your eCommerce service is up and running as expected, how will you ensure a good visibility of your website? Good back-end is important but if your marketing is not strong enough then is it worth selling your games on your own? Just a question...

Its a great question - that I was going to tackle once I had something in place.

I'm already in the process of trying to contact distributors and mobile operators to try and get them to distribute my games for me.

However, I guess its a matter of asking lots of people, writing lots of news entries, posting on as many sites and reference. Short of paying for TV time I'm not sure what to do Smiley

Best bet with my stuff I think is to try and get a ball rolling on competition scores. Who's got the best score at Snakis? Demo players can score, but full game owners can score much higher.

Just trying to keep it positive atm!

You don't have to pay anything upfront with Plimus. They just take a % out of each sale. Look into it, it will simplify things a lot for you.
