Hi
always when I post on the AI-forum (I don't know if it's here as well, cause I'm still writing) I get the following error:

Net::SMTP fatal error: unable to create Net::SMTP object smtp.earthlink.net. at (eval 1) line 3.

But strangely it still posts, I just have to wait a pretty long time until the error message comes up. I also don't see that it posted. (I acidentally posted the same stuff 3 times in a row, so I had to delete the last two one's)

I just wanted to inform you, because it's very stressing.
Arne

Edit: It doesn't occur here though.

I had a similar situation.  I got an error, but my message still posted successfully.  Here's the error message:

mail(): "sendmail_from" not set in php.ini or custom "From:" header missing

EDIT: got it in posting this message too.

Yeah, it's just misconfigured mailserver settings.

Since the mail is sent AFTER the forum DB is updated, and no modern forum is intelligent enough to use transactions, it will always update teh forum even thought the email fails.

EDIT: I too just got it sending that message Wink

It's happenign because someone in the thread has e-mail notificatin turned on.  We are working on getting a proper mail server up and running sometime by the beginning of next week.
