Josef Cardinal Ratzinger was elected as the Supreme Pontiff and has chosen the name, Pope Benedict XVI.



Oremus pro Pontifice nostro Benedicto.
Dominus conservet eum, et vivificet eum,
et beatum faciat eum in terra,
et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum ejus.



A countryman of mine, nice. May the new Pope inspire us Java gaming programmers. ;-)

Honestly, I'm not a practising catholic anymore, but I think this is the worst possible thing that could have happened to the church. Ratzinger is just the man to drag the church kicking and screaming into the ... um ... 16th century. Actually , scratch that, into the middle ages. Although of course, maybe thats just what the church needs now to hasten its senility, electing a 78 year old ex-Hitler Youth member*

To be fair, many of us has the same feelings about J2P2 .
(A liberal catholic friend of mine once described him as "one of the sharoest minds of the 14th century.)

But he turned otut far from all bad.

Im gonna reserve my opinions til we see what he does.
