I find this very troubling. How could such a big problem miss Apple's QA?
I plan on releasing professional java software for OS X, I do not want to wake up one morning to find a thousand emails in my inbox!
This sort of thing really makes people lose confidance in a company. There's nothing worse than applying OS updates which break stuff. Windows is very guilty of this too, but I really expect better of Apple -- they have control over the hardware too.
This is the second time I have updated OS X to find it broken, and wasted hours fixing it. While some updates have been fantastic (aka faster OpenGL, I think that was 10.3.6) I really hope they start to test their updates more.
I have a LOT of praise for OS X, if I sound harsh of Apple, it is only because they have very high standards and I hold them to it. If I enjoyed fixing OS problems I wouldn't be using OS X to start with
