JAVA DEVELOPER

A small startup mobile telecommunications company, is planning to launch a ringtone and logo service in Canada.  We need a talented individual for our office in Toronto.

Job Description:

The Senior Java Programmer will be responsible for developing and testing key software modules and databases for the company’s mobile content delivery service.

Position Responsibilities (in order of priority)

Test and develop *.gcd scripts to enable the successful delivery of content to CDMA standard phones on Bell Mobility’s network.

Test and develop a delivery programme that delivers graphics and sound content to users.  In addition, develop a database that generates reports for management.

Develop a Database and Content Management System for the company’s sound and graphics content.

Develop the socket between the company’s website and the IVR with the content database

Develop the interface for loading content in to the content database

Selection Criteria (in order of priority):

3-5 Years experience in programming Java applications.  A sound knowledge of Java Server-Client programming is expected.  Applications for those with extensive C++ experience (8-9 years) will also be considered.

At least a year of experience in J2ME development (knowledge of WAP, WML WURFL) preferred.

1-2 Years experience working with the various graphic and sound standards for mobile phones preferred.  A knowledge of Openwave Browser is a plus

3-4 Years experience using SQL (PostGRE and MySQL) with extensive knowledge in develop sockets between the database and the website.

A degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in wireless communications a plus.

SOFT SKILLS

Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

Proven ability to meet deadlines/successful completion of deliverables

Excellent time management skills

Analytical, thorough, resourceful and detail-oriented

Self-motivated, hardworking, flexible

Have a "whatever it takes" attitude


COMPENSATION AND CONDITIONS

The compensation offered is between CDN $3000-4500 per month depending on experience and qualifications.  Expected starting time is either mid-April or early May.  In addition, no Canadian experience required.   Companies and independent contractors are welcome to submit proposals.  Please indicate were you saw the advertisement.
