Old JavaGaming.org site with Examples

Hi There

I haven't been in a long long time, but I think
this was the site that had a wicked isometric Java
example available for download.  Anyone
know where I can get this?

I've never tried it myself, but I believe you're talking about "Scroller".  You can still reach some parts of the old site, and Scroller is found on this page:

Well, MSIE just wiped my reply with no undo . But in summary, that isometric thing isn't worth downloading - it's hard-coded to run stuff from f:\somewhere, and there's no packaging, no instructions, and lots of duplicate files and rubbish like that.

Princec's file on the same page is quite good, but sadly yet-another-windows-only affair.

Yeah, getting Scroller to run is more than a tad tricky. However if you're interested in that style of graphics then have a look for "Isometric Game Programming (with DirectX 7)". Jeff apparently used it as a reference while making Scroller, and i've got the book myself - its got lots of good stuff in it (and not really as tied to DX as the title suggests).

I could get it to run on Linux too ya know But only on Nvidia
