Giving Java a second chance after ludumdare fiasco

« Posted 2004-12-13 19:27:48 »

I use this report generating tool at work all the time and I'm looking for a competing product; preferably open source.  The tool is Computer Assoc's 'Easytrieve'.

From the web site:

Quote

   * Report processing
   * Easy to use structured language
   * Easy file manipulation
   * Database processing
   * Internet ready reporting

Advantage CA-Easytrieve Plus Report Generator is a powerful productivity language for both business and information processing professionals that provides easy-to-use information retrieval, sophisticated report writing, and comprehensive application development capabilities.

Basically, its a file manipulation/report generation application.  The user specifies the report with its scripting language.  I'm only interested in a command line/batch function-alike.  Is anyone familiar with this product or know of any alternatives?
