Basic Car Physics

Hi All,

I'm in my final year at university and have to produce a top down view 2d racing game for my project.

I'm quite competent at java programming but would like some information on implementing the physics in java.

I've looked at http://home.planet.nl/~monstrous/tutcar.html
which most people have directed me to but this is a bit advanced at this stage of my project.

Can anyone help with source code or examples of basic acceleration and cornering for an object so I can start to construct my first prototype. Any useful URL's would be much appreciated.
