Will SSE/SSE2 be removed?

Technically all SSE/SSE2 does is allow for float/double calcs in 1 cycle rather than several cycles.

So it would be useless and only take up space.

Am I wrong?

The idea of these instructions is to perform the same operation on multiple data at the same time. When the world moves to 64 bits they'll just operate on twice as much data as before
