Have you tried clearing you cache and removing the applications from web start?  I recentlly changed the demos over to use the standard extension.

Web start can sometimes be annoying and not download an updated JNLP file.

I'm very tempted to file a bug against Java Web Start - it is really annoying and kinda defeats the whole reason for using Java Web Start to begin with.

Lets hope it's fixed in Tiger.
