I'm programming a 2d shoot em up game in java and i have som problem with my images. I use a gif picture as a map and when i update the position u can see the last frame shine through, the map doesnt get very sharp. It's hard to explain. You can easily see it at the edges. I use fullscreen mode and dubbelbuffering. I have tried with more buffers but it doesnt work. If I slow down the game it helps a bit.
I use a map movement fornula: where it's black you cant move to, it's my first game so if there is a better way please let me know
My fps doesn't get any higher than my refreshrate on the screen, why is it so?
