Where can I find complete .3ds format specs?  All the specs I've found are very incomplete.  I've seen some "source code" that loads .3ds files, but source code isn't want I need.  It's usually thousands of lines long, in multiple files, and requires me to learn about whatever rendering enviroment it was built for.  I need the format specs.  There are very good specs for other formats (.ms3d for example), so I'm sure such a thing exist for .3ds somewhere.  Any help out there?  Would be very appriciated.

PS: I have 3dsmax6 on my computer, but can't find .3ds specs anywhere inside it.  Am I looking at the wrong places?

Here are the sites I used when looking for info on the .3ds file format. I never found a complete list of all the node types, and different sites reference different versions of the .3ds file format.

http://c3ds.sourceforge.net/index.php?action=home
http://lib3ds.sourceforge.net/

A couple of us here have already written routines in Java to load .3ds files, so take a look at these.
