No more opengl ?

I have "lost" opengl somehow.  Was running a nehe, when I got the message, "a greater color depth is required".  So I skipped it and went back to my own code. Fired it and I get a black screen that hangs.  Test other 3d apps with directx and they work fine.  Even my little "draw a green box" fails.  

Clicks to fullscreen, then sits there. Esc in the LWJGL demo code doesnt even exit, have to task out.

Any thoughts?

edit: played cosmic trip and survivor on this machine just recently as well and they die at a black screen.

Just a guess but maybe you should set your desktop color depth to 32 bit, and try reinstalling your video drivers.

Check for viruses/trojans/whatnot.

You cannot suddenly lose something like GL. If this has happened all of a sudden it's most likely a virus assuming that yourself haven't been messing around with those important files.

Have you test with my very basic LWJGL app:

Also, have you tested with other libraries (JOGL?).  If not, try the official JOGL website webstart demos.

Tried your testa nd a few others, black screen with white mouse cursor.  I think your test app was an 800 * 600, right, thinking this becasue my cursor grew in size.

No viruses and not messing with any files....

Reinstall drivers and check the cooler of the graphics card.
