I've hit up gamedev.net, idevgames.com, javalobby.org, opengl.org, and nehe.gamedev.net. Are there any other places that should be on the list of sites that LWJGL is actively marketed to?

Gamasutra maybe, and Sun's Java forums. If the decision is definitely final, maybe JOS-RTS would be willing to put a nice big link to it. Also, you could pick a few choice newsgroups and post a short message. Make sure you won't be flamed to hell first though...

Not too worried about getting flamed, and will in fact move over to press release format when the next release is done. I will add Gamasutra and Sun's Java3D forum for the next press release.
Slashdot.org is hard to actually get something posted for, but I'll keep trying.

Slashdot will never post it - it's Java, it was written for Win32, it's not GPL and it's got NOTHING to do with free speech.
Now, if someone ported XBill to use LWJGL - they'd post it then...

ah, but it was also written for Linux and OSX, and it's open source, and it uses OpenGL and OpenAL, the rest-of-the-world's graphics and sounds APIS, which might qualify it. Cas

Think they'll overlook the fact that it's in Java then? Two more thoughts:

Cas, have you done www.flipcode.com as well? They've also got an image of the day. If you've got something impressive it'd be worthwhile submitting that... J (Man I love this smiley: )

hm, haven't been to flipcode for 1,000 years. I might take a look and see what's up... ...haven't got anything impressive to show in the IOTD though. Well, not yet I have finally decided on what to do for the background. Cas

I'm serious about making this THE Java solution for game development.

Hi all, I am one of the team teaching a tutorial on game development with Java at GDC in March. We are covering many facets of Java, 3D being one of them. We are discussing Java3D of course, but would like to discuss LWJGL as well as cover some demos, comparisions, current game projects, etc.
Depending on your interest level, let me know what you would like to see presented and whether a rep form the LWJGl team can be present for Q&A.
Thanks and great job!

I know that he will have a public beta eventually, but if you need to see something earlier than sooner, I think he could provide you with something most interresting

Hey Shawn, I was wondering how to get in touch with you (your contact information wasn't at the GDC website). What sort of information are you looking for and I will gather that information together for you.

Thanks for the great responces. I will be making a focused effort to reply thoroughly to each this weekend.
This is not the necessarily the best forum for this now, but we are finalizing the content for the tutorial over the next few days and I would be glad to hear some opinions/suggests on content devs here would be interested in. It doesn't mean it will make it (the tutorial is only 8 hours and covers ALL of Java and games) but it will help us weigh the topics at hand. For those interested I can send the outline, or perhaps I should start a new forum?
Thanks!
