Recently, I was reading the Inside Gamasutra newsletter, and encountered a review of two on-line gaming middleware products: Butterfly.net and Terazona, from Zona, Inc.

The article reminds us that Terazona's component structure is built entirely in Java.

Now, we know that Terazona has been mentioned in this forum once or twice before; but I would like to extend a special invitation to members of this forum who are also associated with Zona, Inc.:

Share with us!

Certainly without violation of your NDA, and perhaps without saying anything that has not already been said in marketing materials and in the press:  let us in the JGO community know how things are going for you!

Describe for us the challenges you have faced, and the successes you have achieved.

Allow us to encourage you in your work, as we take hope from your success in building a commercial Java product in the entertainment software marketplace.

We are here a community, dedicated to the proposition that Java is a viable and meaningful choice for the development of entertainment software; without sharing in the knowledge of the success of others- the commercial success, let it be said- we do less than our utmost in support of that proposition.

So, come! Share with us, and let us share with you!

Another one that is apparently built entirely in Java:

http://www.grexengine.com

Quote

What is the GrexEngine?
Technology to manage the server side of Massive Multiplayer Games development; handling hundreds of thousands of players in each game, and enabling a new generation of games.

This technology is licensed to games developers and publishers, allowing them to build upon the reliable, high-performance server infrastructure provided by the GrexEngine.

This reduces time to market, increases reliability of new games, and allows any developer to use powerful features that would otherwise require massive resources to develop, test, and support. Together, these facilitate a new generation of more advanced gaming.

You might try asking them for info too...
