Hello Smiley,

I'm here to present you the project I'm working on, A Space To Bloom

Current Version : Beta 1.1.0

Direct Download :

Windows : http://tumultuous-system.net/content/ASTB/ASTB-Windows-B1.1.0.zip
Linux: http://tumultuous-system.net/content/ASTB/ASTB-Linux-B1.1.0.zip

If you enjoyed the game, don't hesitate to share it  Smiley

About :

A Space To Bloom is a free 4X strategy game available on Windows and Linux where you will have to design your own buildings, use them to build your cities and colonize and battle to control the space.

The game allows you to build your own buildings with an integrated building editor or use any .obj model. With those building you can build your cities an colony on planets. You will have to go from planet to planet to expend your empire to exploit the resources of the planets but don't forget that the resources are limited and will affect your economy. Moreover, when there will be no more planet to colonize, your only way to gain resources and wealth will be to become an imperialist and conquers the planets of the other empire. You can also create your own campaign with an editor. You can play alone or with friends and even cooperate by trades or playing the same player.

Screenshots :

The game is currently in Beta 1.0.0, but a lot of assets will be added, patches and update will come and the game will stay free. The campaign and building editor will be improve, music, sound effect, campaign and features will be added, graphics will be improve as well, that's for all those reasons I consider the game in beta.

The game is powered by LWJGL 2 and use Slick-Util for the text.

I can't guarantee weekly update of the game, I only work on it during my free time but for each major update I will try to make a video on my youtube channel and for minor update I will post an article on facebook and my site. If you want to make a suggestion to improve the game, don't hesitate to tell me, I would be glad to read it. If you like the game, it would be alot helpful if you share it to your friends and if you make a video on the game don't hesitate to send me the link  Wink .

Your project seems pretty impressive and I'm sure a lot of people would love to take a look at it, but you are salting your own soup with those ad-fly links.

I've removed them. When I put them, I knew it wasn't the best idea, yet I wanted to try the idea but your comment confirmed me that it was a bad idea.

Thank you. And wow there's a lot of stuff in there, I'm impressed!

It's great that you made a tutorial because I would have been completely lost without it, but the problem is I was still kinda lost. It's a great start but I think you have to go a bit more into detail with your explanations. For example you wrote something like "Don't forget to select a model for you building before you can place it" without actually explaining how to do that. Took me a while to figure out that I had to click on the little rectangle in the bottom right of the building selection.

Also what confused me a lot is that i have no idea what the buildings I'm placing actually do. Clicking on them doesn't do anything so how do I figure out what they are good for?

Besides the fact that it's a little overwhelming because there is so much stuff in your game, I think this has a lot of potential! Especially that you can design your own buildings is a pretty cool idea.

Thank you for your compliments.

Current way to see what they are good for is to watch which resource text (the number you have of it when you're in a planet) is colored green.

In the next updates, I will try to make the tutorial shows the icons corresponding to the tutorial text by enlightening or another way. Also I'll try to make the game easier to understand.
