Public Domain resources

I was wondering if there was a good resource for finding public domain textures, 3d models, sounds etc. I'm mostly looking for sound files lately and it's pretty rough (I'm looking for glast breaking types of noises, breaking, jingling in the wind, etc). I've found a few small sites but is there a larger directory devoted to these types of sites? Likely much of what I want will have to be created by myself, just to insure that there isn't any copyright disputes over sounds that might not really be public domain, but I still feel like there should be some good resource out there to help me in deciding what I want (you know, try a texture or two on, maybe accent it with a wav or two).
