Odd poll, isn't it fairly obvious that the overwhelming majority here arn't going to be going. Its in the states, its expensive and most people have day jobs.

Not to mention, don't you have to be "in the industry" ?

I might be going, it is my fiance's spring break, and she said we should go there(a lot warmer than wisconsin).  She would hang out at the beaches and I would go to the conference.

While I assume a large number of people won't be able to make it, I'm curious about how many plan to go.

Unfortunately you can't see the poll results without casting your vote, and if I only provided a "yes" option than only the people who voted "yes" would get to know how many people are going. Smiley

I first attended GDC while a research scientist at NYU, so AFAICT "in the industry" is pretty loosely defined. The cost is likely to be prohibitive to a lot of people who'd have to pay for it themselves, which tends to limit it to professional game developers who's companies can afford to pay their way.

i am not in the industry, and i will be paying for it myself.  I do financial programming for a living currently.  Going to it will be a vacation for me.

Java games rock!

it is too expensive.   it just isn't feasible to expect us to pay 6-8% of our after tax salary to attend a conference (pass+airfare+hotel).

How generous! Grin

I'm not going, but am very interested in what happens.  I expect to see after-show reports from all the usual suspects!
