I'm gonna buy a PS4 after work.  Game recommendations are welcome.  I think I'm getting the Uncharted 4 bundle, with FF15 and Mortal Kombat X.  I'm so excited and I feel like I'm 12 again lol.

The problem when using cool shaders, 4 layers of parallax, sprites from great games and a bunch of cool-looking animations found online.... is that I end up spending more time testing my game rather than coding it.... But it looks so good *^*

I spent the day trying to fix a EXCEPTION_MEMORY_ACCESS_VIOLATION... turns out the Garbage Collector is very good at its job and NanoVG has absolutely no memory protections/checks or error reporting mechanisms. Apart from that, doing baby steps while developing things for once, and I am actually being productive as a result!

Man I tried to get the Uncharted 4 bundle but they didn't have it, had to settle with Call of Duty.  But I also got Horizon Zero Dawn which is really cool.  I'm gonna watch trailers for these other games you suggested and probably pick up another game this weekend.  Thanks for the suggestions!

Work on a new game. It will be my first network/client server game and the core gameplay will be similar to the game from mike state of profit but with more focus on building and growing your own town.
At the moment you can scroll, zoom in and out and place different tiles with the mouse (more an editor at the moment). Next step core gameplay.

What I'm about to do today: heading to downtown SF where I will meet the project lead of a recently formed game-making team and get set up with a workstation.

Plusses:
(1) will be set up with C++ and Unreal, a chance to learn these without having to layout funds myself for compiler/IDE/etc.,
(2) focus will be audio, my main interest,
(3) excellent position from which to achieve some sort of audio director or music director post as the company grows,
(4) the company is pretty solid in its main line of work (related to supporting VR) and has credible resources to risk branching into creating product as opposed to just supporting it.

Minuses:
(1) have to work with C++, not Java (welcome to the "real world"?),
(2) no pay for several months (pay contingent on our demo being accepted by Sony, at which point there will be back pay--I am mentally adding the word "maybe"),
(3) the audio I have to do initially will be primarily related to analyzing sounds (I have done very little of this), with only a bit of sound design and production added on (more my interest). Sound analysis requires things like getting a better grip on DFT and FFT, and it is going to take some serious cramming to "get" this.
(4) No guarantees the company will succeed.

Once again, am putting off work on Hexara.

Cracked open TritonForge for the first time in months, and made some visual changes.
Re-did the parallax system from scratch and gave it 6 layers.
Redrew clouds.
Made shaders optional.
Made my own font to use in-game.

Never thought that it would be so hard (for me) to make a good random terrain mapping and (much harder) a good random city building.
For the terrain I use the diamond square algorithm and for the city I use my own templates which are ordered randomly.
And I implemented a minimap and a first interface.

Now I can really start to implement the "game" =) but until now it was really fun to learn something new =)

Finally getting around to implementing assimp.

Any help would be welcome, I can't seem to find any lwjgl resources involving assimp. All of the CPP resources are incompatible.

Finally got around to integrating BSP specific rendering techniques into the software renderer. It's unbelievable how much rendering is accelerated by using this. No wonder John Carmack and the other developers used this data structure for Doom and Quake.

I now render the map from front to back and use a 1-bit buffer to check if a pixel has been drawn on before. I stop rendering when the entire screen is filled with BSP pixels. This performs occlusion culling.

Then I draw the skybox ontop of the map but only on the pixels that were determined to be reserved for the sky.

I got a 1.5x performance boost from all of this.

I just fixed all exceptions in my voxel game and just tried the first "clean" run. My system got hanged for an hour before I restarted my laptop. That's what I got for rendering a 5x5x5 grid of chunks ,each containing 16x16x16 cubes, without face culling in a 5 year old budget laptop. Bad practice. Can anyone suggest optimizations? (Please don't tell me about storing isSolid flags for each side of the cube. Bad memories from Unity)

I wrote an affine texture mapper...in BASIC...for the Commodore 64. It takes 6 minutes to render one frame (24 sec. when compiled):

Gutted the menu system from TF and made it work with TWL. It only took 3 days Tongue
But with the relief from those headaches, I remade the title screen to be animated,
and pieced together some new music for it.

It's not at all related to code, or anything digital, but a general event. I have got my ID card broken, and I had to write a letter to the HOD to grant me a new ID card. So I wrote this letter:

I, Ch. Sri Harsha, student of CSE 3rd year section A bearing the roll number <myroll> had got my ID card broken into pieces due to a series of unfortunate incidents. So I request you to kindly grant me a new one.

Then my HOD asked me, may I ask what are those series of unfortunate incidents??

I replied, "Ma'm I was playing with it, swinging it around by the tag. Unfortunately it hit the desk and due to that it broke into two".

Dunno why, but this is the funniest letter that I have ever written and wanted to share with you guys.
