One of our partners (www.summitsoccer.co.uk) wants to speed up getting to the gold release, and the main thing on the critical path is the coding of fairly simple functionality - but a lot of it. We're managing the development for them, hence I'm posting rather than them Smiley.

We don't actually need highly skilled developers, in fact much of the coding will be in Beanshell (i.e. java syntax but much simpler to code in). The current team is doing the remaining core features, and you would mostly be working on higher-level things like quests. The pure java parts you might do are mainly implementing new non-core features within the high-level environment provided by the GrexEngine - absolutely no low-level coding required.

It's a pretty small workload, and the game's owners actually want people leaning more towards the "volunteer" end of the scale than professional developers (although it is paid work, the budget for this is very small). In an ideal world, they'd take on volunteers and give them semi-admin status and quest-writing priviledges etc, and then those that proved particularly good / motivated after a few months would stay on as paid part-timers or (eventually) full-time staff, doing a lot more work. This post is a chance to jump the gun and get straight in at the part-time work point. Although there isn't enough guaranteed work to make a long-term offer now, they'd really like people who have a good chance of really getting into the game, and who might then stay on and carry on adding features during and after the beta, and writing quests.

This wouldn't suit people in need of a full-time job (there isn't enough to do yet) although in 4-6 months time you'd expect the chance of turning it into a full-time job (although for this you'd probably need to be based in the UK to keep management easy; note however that this is not an absolute requirement). It would probably be ideal for a moderately skilled java developer (note: we will test candidates to check for basic proficiency) who's looking for a first or second game job and has time to spare (note: you may even be able to do this in addition to your day job, if you could spare enough time) or possibly a CS student with two months of holidays.

CV's are also welcomed, but we're more interested in what you'd like to do, what you think you could add, why you want to work on the game. than your past experience and skills (although prior skills etc are only going to help your application!).
