Onigiri Escape is an endless running game in gameboy style. You are the Onigiri trying to escape from a group of evil minions. Try your best to avoid those minions. If you get caught by minion, you have to stay alive for 10 seconds in the minion's game.

Download android version. It's free. Support phone and tablet.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.meyostudios.onigiriescape
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JODSEKC
http://slideme.org/application/onigiri-escape

Any kind of feedback is greatly appreciated.

If you wonder what is Onigiri, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onigiri

This is one of the minion's game.

I thought oni-giri meant demon blade or something like that.
Some music would be awesome and play jump sound when player actually jumps, not when he presses jump.

Oni can mean demon, giri can mean to cut. 鬼切

However, that's not generally what it means. Generally speaking it's おにぎり(onigiri/お握り) which just refers to お結び(omusubi) or rice balls.

In the case of rice balls, it means o/お as an a politeness thing, you just add it to words, and nigiri/握り as in to form with the hands. (which is why there is such thing as "nigiri sushi" or hand rolled sushi, which is 握り寿司(nigirizushi) in japanese)

So yeah, generally speaking it'll be referring to rice balls, but it could refer to a demon blade/demon slash type of thing. But that'd be the exception, not the norm.

I wanted to say something more about the game. It really plays nicely, but you should fix the sound of jumping like I said in the first post and maybe make gravity a little bit higher. I mean, to me, it feels like the character is kinda floating.

PS

@bilznatch
I'm watching one piece and saw that translation, so I just said it here Cheesy I have nothing against 'real' translation. When you type onigiri in google you can see rice balls Cheesy

EDIT----------
It would be really awesome if you made gravity the same in both standard level and blade room. It really feels awkward when you make first jump in blade room and can barely jump over blades.. Compared to main level where you can jump like 3 times higher.

I give you KAMEHAMEHA ...... Onigiri VS Tofu

I used to play dragon ball a lot, and kamehameha duel was the part I lose most of the time. I hate it, but it was so much fun. I created it as the Tofu minion game. I found it is easier to play with a phone than a keyboard, due to multitouch. Just try not to break your phone.

Thanks for all the feedback. Here is the change log
1. Fixed the sound issue. Thanks trollwarrior.
2. New minion Tofu added.
3. Updated the gravity formula.
4. Put some spikes to stop Onigiri from jumping in the flying evil blade room. @trollwarrior, did you really believe that is a jump?

Cheesy I now realized that it wasn't your usual jump Cheesy I mean, there was nothing forcing me to jump multiple times, so I didn't even try it Cheesy

More minions!
- Poison pudding added (android: tap left/right of screen, desktop: arrow key to move left/right)
- Yeti added
- Rice bowl added (tap/click the minion)

I'll try to complete the title screen and hunt for 8bit music during weekend.

Really cool game! Smiley

I don't actually understand what the Yeti does / is a reference to and how to win against it. Everytime I can't jump over it, it throws a block at me so fast I can't react or try out tapping somewhere I just get instantly killed. Would be cool if you'd get 2 times 10 seconds of trying to fuigure out how to win against him and if you won both 2 testing phases you will never get them back or something like that. But just don't make it so I'm just put in there and die Cheesy

Keep it up! Smiley

Nobody can escape from the Yeti  Grin I make the 1st ice block harder to avoid, if you can jump over it, then you are pretty safe from the remaining ice blocks.
A training room? That's a cool idea! How bout a steel cage instead of a training room, where you have to fight all the lvl99 minions, and try to survive as long as you can Cheesy That will be a great easter egg.

Yeah, easter egg added into the game. Find it to unlock a special game mode and achievement. Hint: The easter egg is at the menu screen. PM me if you need more hints  Wink

Yummy Pudding added back to the game. Social media supported, you can share your high score via twitter, facebook, google+. I would love to see how far you can run.

I guess the game is completed, it is time to move it to showcase.
