Version 0.4.0:

I loved making this version because pregnant dead people just really get me going.

Latest Features:
- Added Pregnant Zombies
- Added Baby Zombies
- Added Running Baby Zombies
- Tweaked Stuff Here and There

Screenshots:

Pregnant Zombie

Baby Zombie

Running Baby Zombie (Complete with a mustache)

Pregnant Zombie Dropping a Baby

Download: Blahhhhh I don't feel like spawning is well rounded enough yet. I'm very conscious about this game. It's gotta be perfect before I let someone play it.

Lol very creative, keep ehm coming.

Looking forward to a demo, much more than the last one.

Have you added gore?

Edit: you should make the pregnant one fall on its back, then shoot the baby out, can't believe I just suggested that lol

Not sure whether to be scared or weirdly impressed.

Was I before Chuang Tzu who dreamt about being a butterfly, or am I now a butterfly who dreams about being Chuang Tzu?

Have to admit, those are some pretty cool new zombies.

This is shaping up to be a pretty well polished minigame, keep at it.

-pregnant zombies-

I'm a bit scared now.

Also, if zombies are the undead, what does it mean if a baby zombie is born?

Duhhhhh, Zombie-ception. dun dun

I know now it only seems to look like a mini game. But please remember this is a gamemode within a giant game. Just the giant game hasn't been made yet. Haha

Also, I am running out of zombie ideas! Does anyone got any? I was thinking a jumping zombie and a moonwalking zombie and then baby versions of those. But the more the merrier. Also I'm planning on swapping zombie spawning to a wave based system meaning that I could have boss fights! Does anyone got any boss ideas?

It would also be nice to have all the zombies lying around after death anyway, would reduce the "So I shot it - and now?" feeling  Wink

Add some zombie animals in the later stages. There is a lot of ways to get inspiration... Check Plants vs. Zombies and Lollipop Chainsaw. Keep it up.

I figure I'll add zombie animals when I create survival mode. (I'm starting work on that after arcade mode, the current mode I'm working on, is finished. Which will be in a week or two) Also, I'll check those games out! Thanks for the suggestion!

You should resize your images, they take up way too much space in your post:
1

Aspect Ratio is still kept, so don't worry about that.

Should look something like this:

Latest download? Also, how are you creating the ghost effect when entities move? Also the screen shake upon shooting..

Latest download?

Releasing one sometime this week.

Also, how are you creating the ghost effect when entities move? Also the screen shake upon shooting..

I'm sure you know how to make entities. Well, basically those are just entities that have a time limit before they dissapear and they just have a decreasing alpha variable. It's really easy. Now to use screenshake all you gotta do is translate the entire frame to random positions using java's random class. Very simple stuff. Try google if you have anymore questions, for this is mostly basic stuff. If you can't find it on google, then use JGO.

I have a good feeling you are going to like the zombie ideas for 0.5.0.

We are adding 11 new zombies, 2 new weapons, a new game mechanic, a new game spawning system, blood and gore (possibly), Explosions (possibly), and character accessories!

It's not about the tool, Jake. I like to use pure MS Paint for pixel arts...
Btw. the zombie looks really good, would suggest you to at least consider going that way...
Offline Jacob Pickens
« Reply #141 - Posted 2014-06-16 17:57:37 »

I would love to turn that way but I can't make art like that and my 'artist' can't do that either. Pixel art is very hard for me. I'm not good with colors.

EDIT: Quick question: When would you guys like a beta release? I feel like I could get one out by Saturday or Sunday because my artist is out of town until Friday and he left with a big list of work. Like I said before we are adding a bunch of zombies and 2 new weapons so he has alot of art to draw. So when do you think would be a good time to ship one out to you guys?

How about a 0.4 download very soon?

Offline Jacob Pickens
« Reply #143 - Posted 2014-06-16 18:15:28 »

I feel like a 0.4.0 download would be pointless. The mechanics are all there, but the hodge-podge zombie spawning technique made the game very very very bad. What I'm doing as we speak is implementing a wave system and starting to add bosses. I assure you, waiting for 0.5.0 (Which will only be about a week) is worth it. Grin

Yes. But you do need to provide a download soon. You keep postponing it.

Offline Jacob Pickens
« Reply #145 - Posted 2014-06-16 18:26:45 »

I understand that greatly, haha. I hate that I keep postponing it. I am very sure that this download will be out soon. Scratch that! I am 100% sure that 0.5.0 will be released soon, unless there is some un-likely event.

I think that the artist will know when to release his art so just release when you think it's ready but don't promise something and then go back on it. That it's something only triple a companies can get away with Wink

Ya, I hate being like triple A. I despise their business techniques. Sorry about going back on my word there guys. I will try my best to get 0.5.0 out for you guys by the end of this week.

What? I must've put that somewhere. There is going to be a linux version. I can export to all 3 so might as well right?
