Yuri you may be upset but you have to realize why no one is giving you the spotlight. Your game (its cool, don't get me wrong) is just a clone of an old game most people have already played. We have told you again and again to stop worrying so much about scripting systems or whatever and focus on the game mechanics. We told you if you wanted people to play your game you would have to add unique features, which honestly you failed to do. I'll be honest with you Yuri, no one cares if your game has a scripting system or a custom level format. You seem to be pissed that no one has taken notice to all your hard work, which while reasonable, is not very... Practical (can't think of a good word). No one has said "Yuri, you have to spend months upon months on this one game adding custom levels and a scripting engine". No one. So getting mad at us and telling us you're going to take the download down because you haven't gotten any attention is pretty childish and its a call for attention.

You can do what you want, but I think you either need to forget about this project or you need to come back to it and focus on game mechanics.

Its just silly, all these frills you've added in to the game. A user wants to just play Breakout. Your other features are cool from a technical standpoint, but from a player's standpoint they will never even notice. You need to justify work time with what you're actually going to receive as the developer. Ask yourself, is all of this worth it? A Breakout clone isn't supposed to be this complex because the game in itself is a very simple idea. There's not much room for practical expansion.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Yuri, I applaud your decision to stop development on BrickBroken.

You should take a step back, and make another game that a player can simply download (without registration) and then click on the launcher (not installer) and then the game opens, and the player plays the game, and then closes the game.

The player doesnt want a scripting language, or a forum, or addons or levelpack files or whatever. The player wants to play the game.

We offered solutions like, "Change the background". And you would take this, simple to do thing. And then go off on a tangent and create some system, whereby the user can script there own background. Of course it took months and no one cared.

If its true that little changes like the background were "impossible" then the game was doomed from the start, and you should make a game so simple, that it is possible to change the background.

Make a game that is SIMPLE. Like, reallly simple.

Why do you say that my game needs registration ? That's false you can use the game by clicking on play demo. If I'm using an installer it's because the game requires librarys and images.
And stop saying the download system is broken, because I just removed the file from my FTP. You can still play the game if you already have the client app installed.

About game mechanism, I made many unique features that you seams to ignore. I don't understand because I've done the burning ball, the burning brick, the TNT brick, the portals bricks, and the changer brick in this update. So why do you say that there is no game mechanism. Please read the change log when I post them.

I made so many features in the change log that you are simply ignoring. In plus you said you want more much more levels, we'll this needed the new format to work. I already told you that so many times so you can understand. About addons, this has been created for multiplayer purposes. Witch is now broken ! You wanted in first more levels and effects into level. You got that, but I have'nt the time to repair the multiplayer.
I already said that my break brick game is unique. It has placable bricks, and the new version will bring to you droppable items. Indead bricks will drop randomly items such as multiple balls, sticky balls, iron balls, big iron balls, ...

I don't understand because, I just released the thing that will correct lag when click the Singleplayer button and the thing that will add much more levels ; in plus with story ! What break brick game exists with a story ?

What break brick game exists with a story ?

None, for a reason.

2 people just posted serious and sympathetic replies, trying to help you, for the 100th time.

You don't need all the fancy shit you are implementing, it is an old style arcade game going back decades. No one cares about fancy installers, custom maps or anything else for that matter.

They want to hit play, break some bricks and then restart or quit. Simple as that.

It's time you take the advice and stop being a stubborn idiot. You clearly have the programming skillset but not the attitude to match it. If you keep this up, anything you make will crash and burn like this mess.

Yuri, there is clearly a language barrier.

We do not want more features.
There are too many features.
These complicated features are not what we want.
We wanted a simple game.

Hmmm... Maybe I was wrong about my assessment. Users... are always going to say your program isn't doing enough.

Yuri, maybe it'd be a lot less painful for you if you stuck to making applications. Systems, like the ones you've made for networking and security, are actually important for those who are trying to have online score systems.

Games, are a little bit different than applications. The more you add to a game, the harder it is for users to get into the game. No matter how you slice it Yuri, you have to make your entry as painless to your user base as you can. I have been looking at your logs, and you have been adding the features you said you would. You tried to improve graphics, add game play elements, and even allow others to edit the game...

One problem...

As I said earlier, it is too late because you already shattered your fan base. All that is important to your fan base now is two things.

1) How fast can I get into the game?
2) How different is it from other Brick Breaker clones?

Sadly, since your user base has lost its patience, most won't get past #1 if it takes longer than 15 seconds to get in the game. For those who get to #2, if they can't see any improvement from the last game they will quit. As you can see, they will never get to see your "level editor" or your multi-player elements because they don't "trust" that you care about them anymore.

The most important skills a game developer needs is perseverance and the ability to listen. It is obvious to me that you can program, but to make games you have to be willing to see past all the s**t talk in order to improve your experience. It doesn't help that each user has a different environment and each player enjoys differently.

Hence, here is another sad story of a developer that removes his game because of a little bad publicity. I wonder if this really is the end of this tale...

I see... Thanks to you ctommi, but like you said, who will care if i take back the developpement of the game.

If you want to know, i made something in the launcher. Something that will (in my opinion) make users never come back : I included possiblity of playing my other games and launch them directly in the launhcer. That means that all SLDT games will be accessible in the launcher when the launcher will be published.

Yet another overly complicated thing the user does not want, no one wants a launcher for a brick break style game........

Minecraft never had a proper launcher for donkeys and no one cared.

I've done that because i'm preparing a game that i think will not be realeased on these forums. This game is called YuriMMO ! Yes, you said that many times that i'm not enough good to make 3D MMO games. Well, you will take that back in your face...

On this goodbye ; will never come back.

I never said that at any point, in fact I actually praised your coding ability. I think you could make a game, you can't design a game or be a project leader but you certainly could code following a descriptor.

If you don't want to come back then fine, shove it. If you want to be like that.

Your ignorance will lead you no where.

I request this thread gets locked tbh, it no longer has an op or content besides people arguing and being negative.
